The other side that brings pecimism is that Jerry does things to undermine the team, whether he intends to or not. For instance, his talking to Garrett on the sidelines of the second Eagles game caused an unneeded distraction. Him saying how he makes all final personeel decisions as GM, and so it would make no sence to bring in someone to provide perspective because it might muddy things; well that's a disstraction too that undermines the coach. So is Jones always playing "chummy" with the palyers and leaving his door open for them, undermining his coaches as players walk past that dooor to go knock on Jerry's.
Jerry Jones = undermining distractions all around!
[View Full Quote]Yes Jerry Jones brought in Parcells and he walked away a year or 2 early. By his last years Jones was being more "suggestive" and Parcells wanted out before it got out of hand. Before that Jerry had stooges running the team because he could treat them like, well, stooges. Him later admitting that he fired Gailey too early was a bad move. No Jerry the bad move was hiring him in the first place.
Jerry does not get it, and because he does not he'll ruin it for Garrett the more he tries to help him - and help (ruin) him, he likely will.
It's about jerry - Jerry says so himself!

The only people I have heard of who were distracted are fans and media. I've not heard a single player or coach say it threw them off their game.

Jerry should have over ruled Parcells. He is the GM and while he can delegate authority he can't dodge his responsibility.
Oh wait.......

Testaverde sounds more like ravioli than Warner.

I don't believe in team motivation. I believe in getting a team prepared so it knows it will have the necessary confidence

The sad thing is if Kurt had landed here Romo may have never been discovered. I don't believe Warner would have been as bad as Testaverde and Bledsoe at all.

Exactly. I love Kurt Warner, but Romo for the long term is much better than Warner for the short term.

The oh, wait... ?
Don't worry about it Hos, it was just my way of saying that Jerry does have a good idea from time to time, and that he should not be viewed based only upon what he has done wrong, but what he has done right. In the Warner v. Vinny thing- I wish Jerry HAD intervened.
Sometimes we blame Jerry whether it was actually his doing or not. We assume it must be Jerry's fault when things go wrong, and assume it must be in-spite of Jerry when things go right.
Looking back at it though- Warner would have been a great hire.
It's all Jerry's fault, every time. We hear it constantly here.
Don't count me as a Jerry Apologist, I'm not. I take my shots too.
Instead, just call me a realist.

Possibly. Or we would have had a very, very good player behind Warner. We haven't had that since the days of Danny White (I liked Kosar though) waiting in the wings.
Danny had to wait a really long time before he became starter, but we weren't disappointed.
Of course, it is all "what if" hypothetical.

What I've always liked about Jimmy was his brashness and the team's ability to live up to it.
I like Rex Ryan's brashness, but his defense let us down so much, I'd rather he don't say nothing until they can be the reason why the team won vs inspite of.
I wish Jason Garrett had some brashness, tho. He's like the confident professor who is always calm cool, and collected. It would be nice if said something that wasn't always the PC thing to say.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!
