There just isn't a DT in this draft that I think is worth more than a trade down and accumulating more picks.

.....sloppy post by me initially: we would trade down to 20ish to get WOrthy and get an extra what..........2nd or 3rd rounder? That could work: I notice Kuiper has Cox,Brockers, and Poe ALL ahead of WOrthy: do you agree with that? (full disclosure: I'm not a big Mel Kuiper fan)

If you're taking a guard with a Top 15 pick, don't you want to see him a few times lined up helmet to helmet against NFL caliber DT/NG talent and bulldoze him? Especially a guy who doesn't have the biggest frame in the world. If I'm drafting an offensive guard with a Top 15 pick, I want to know I can run right up his butt on a 3rd and 1 and he's going to cave in his side of the line and push the line of scrimmage forwards ... not merely get a decent seal block on his assigned guy.
I guess all the pro scouts that have been drooling about him are full of crap, eh?

No. They're not full of crap. That would imply they're lying. They're merely projecting, in the absence of proof on film, that he's going to be able move 320 lbs. NFL caliber defensive tackles and nose guards. I guess for some people projections are good enough. When we're talking about drafting a non premium position with a Top 15 pick, I would prefer proof on film. When scouts are asked to blindly project they have a pretty shaky history.

Reference?

Obviously you and the scouts have seen him take on an NFL caliber DT that I haven't. Which one? I haven't found any. I went up and down his schedule and I can't find any opponents with an NFL caliber DT other than when he played UW, and he rarely matched up against Taamu.

I'm sincerely asking. I would love to see if there's any footage of it on Youtube if it's out there. Just a name would be great. Thanks in advance.

I think that's often the case, though, that a player doesn't necessarily see great competition through the year, especially at small schools. I mean, who did Demarcus go up against when he was playing at Troy? Yeah, you love having a good amount of tape of someone going against top competition, but outside the SEC or Big Ten, I don't know how much it happens.
There's always more to the story.

Harris from USC.

Can't fault him for comp.......who is Luck throwing against. How many elite pass rushers of Kalil or Martin gone against. Which elite CB's did Dez or Blackmon go against? Name the elite WR's Revis went against in the Big East.

I think you make a good point.

I'm starting to think that about anyone on the Alabama defense. You had a collection of very good players (but maybe not the best NFL players) who lined up against mostly poor offenses and looked good doing it.

Best DT's that Decastro might have faced you probably want to go back a season. See if you can find anything from their game against Oregon State if he went up against Stephen Paea. Also look for last years USC game for Jurrell Casey.

Interesting points, re: Decastro. Certainly something to think about.
