Love it Count...only thing I would change possibly is adding another defensive end, but I guess by adding the NT you are hoping that Rat can move over more often.

Upshaw won't be there at #14.
I wouldn't pick him anyway.

I hoping for one of either decastro or nicks/grubs. But I want a new center. I think the other guard spot can be filled for a year with one of kosier, holland, dockery.
I would love nicks or grubs AND decastro just dont think its going to happen.

Nice to see a new scenario (DeCastro gone).
Do you essentially have Nicks replacing Kosier here or is Kosier retained?
Answer for this off-season: Assemble an elite offense.

I'd rather let Kosier go, and resign Holland.

Key Free Agents w/ Contract Estimates:
Carl Nicks, G - 6 Years / 48m / 16m Guaranteed
Laurent Robinson - 3 Years / 14m / 6m Guaranteed
Terrell Thomas - 2 Years / 6m / 3m Guaranteed
The Draft:
Round 1: Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama
Alabama's D is as close to NFL caliber as you can get and Upshaw was a very important reason why, I'd gladly have him on the Cowboys.
Round 2: Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia
In the 2nd, there are a couple of corners I have group close together. Without the combine, it's hard to separate them but for now, I like Minnifield.
[View Full Quote]Round 3: Ben Jones, C, Georgia
He was relatively quiet at the Senior Bowl, despite putting together a good week of practice and a good showing at the game.
Round 4: Hebron Fangupo, NT, BYU
I've never seen a guy rise like this without having done much since his bowl game. A few weeks ago, NFLDS had him as a 6th rounder, now they have him in the 4th. I guess they finally got around to watching tape of him. At 6'1" 330, and the majority of it muscle, he's the prototypical NT.
Round 5: Evan Rodriguez, TE/H-Back, West Virginia
Think Aaron Henandez. A bit undersized at 6'2" 245, but the guy can catch the ball and do something with it afterwards. He can dunk as well, if that helps to sell you on him.
Round 6a: Tank Carder, ILB, TCU
NFLDS says Carder is still a borderline 6/7th round pick, even though some sites as suggesting he'll go higher. Has a bit of an injury history, but I love his fire and aggressiveness.
Round 6b: Miles Burris, OLB, San Diego State
Played in a small pond, but incredibly productive even though he's undersized. Probably a pass rush specialist/special teams player with some upside. Also has experience at ILB.
Round 7: Darron Thomas, QB, Oregon
Very productive in Oregon's offense, but I don't think he's NFL ready. Probably a guy we try to stash ont he practice squad, but I think there's enough upside to consider carrying him on the roster if we can afford to go short somewhere else.

That's cool. One question though: What are we going to do about safety? I'm assuming Elam wasn't signed. Does your scenario have someone like Church starting?
It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

i think you way off on nicks. try 7 years 60 million and 22 million guaranteed. he is going to cost alot more then we think at 26 yrs old he will want to be the best paid olineman.

I think you're right.
And I don't think Dallas will make a play for him.

I agree. Nicks will end up being this year's Nnamdi Asomugha: he's a great player, but the price is too high. We have to build through the draft... High priced free agents are not the answer.

Could be a FA in the mold of Elam, but I believe Church is ready. I don't think there's a safety in this class the staff would be willing to start from day 1 other than Barron, so they may not draft one at all.

Your numbers aren't that far from mine, really. 500,000 per year difference with more guaranteed money.

lol, we tried to sign Asomugha and his final contract was more reasonable than many people thought. I remember people saying he'd sign for no less than 15mil a year.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Nicks is frankly better and younger then nmadi when comparing positions.
Nmadi is a very interesting case; virtually every talking head had him going for at least 14-15 million. That Philthy got him for that must less is striking. My theory is that with all the extra time that the staffs had to look at film and such on the FA's, a lot of people saw the flaws in Nmadi's game.

Or they saw he was a 30 year old cornerback and no sane team would pay that kind of money for him.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

I don't think Church is ready.
He doesn't appear to be fast enough to handle deep coverage responsibilies.
To me he looks like a safety/linebacker in the nickel and that's about it.
The other starting safety for the Cowboys is going to come through free-agency.

Well then you don't think Church is good enough. Not that he's not ready.
I agree.

I don't disagree th that. I do think he's mentally ready. Physically he is what he is, doesn't mean I think he should be starting but we refuse to draft safeties so what can be expected.
