Default How many TE's do we really need?

We have three right now but I figure Bennett will not be back. So that leaves us with Witten and Phillips. Before the injury, Phillips looked like he was doing very well. We have two FBs on the roster with Fiametta and Chappas but not sure if Chappas will stick.

My question is do we really have a need for three TE's? There is talk of drafting a TE if Bennett leaves but wouldnt we be better off looking for someone who could be another FB type if Fiametta gets hurt? The running game suffered when he was out and we didn't have anyone to replace him. Maybe the better spot would be used on that position than a third TE.

We need an athletic one that can spread the field, which is why I think Egnew is attached to Dallas rumors.

I think we need to bring in a couple TEs from this years class (whether draft or undrafted) to put some pressure on Phillips. Bennett is gone. If one of the newbies outplays Phillips, then he is in and Phillips is gone. Maybe we can keep a 3rd on the PS.

Witten is aging and in decline, Bennett's a waste of space and Phillips is a backup type.

There'd be nothing wrong with using a little foresight and addressing this before it becomes a glaring issue. That's what teams with real GMs do.

How many cheerleader positions are there? They need tight ends.

That's tough.

I'd like him in the 4th round.

I don't think he'll be available that late because the TE depth is poor and once one of the top TEs goes, it will likely cause a little bit of a run early.

But I think he's a solid 3rd/4th round type talent.

How about you?

I wouldn't have an issue with taking him at 45.

I don't think he gets out of the 2nd round. Unless he really disappoints in workouts.

Unless you are bypassing a chance to fill a currently existing hole.

I agree, it would be nice to always have the next guy in the pipeline before the hole appears. But that is a luxury a team with current holes cannot indulge.

You have fun chasing your tail and drafting for need.

The draft isn't veteran free agency.

He's got a 2nd round or better grade everywhere I look. He's 25th overall on Scouts Inc.'s board right now.

I really like this pick, but it all depends on what happens with Marty B. Do we really think he is gone?
