A few months ago I posted about a learning project I was working on. In order to teach myself SQL databases I decided to build a draft simulator which I've affectionately named the Mockinator. After tens of thousands of simulations and countless hours of tweaking I thought I'd post it's final draft. (not because I'm happpy with it, I just ran out of time).

Thank you for posting this. I can't imagine all the time and effort that went into it. I like this better than some of the drafts that DraftTek spit out. You obviously knew what you were doing!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm not sure I did know what I was doing but I sure figured a lot of stuff out during the process.
There are a lot of great posters on this board that post a lot of great information and a lot of that input went into this.

I actually like this draft for the Boys more than any other drafts I've seen on here. I like a big NT in the first. Call me crazy but I wouldn't mind getting Poe in the first and possibly trading down in doing so. I think Irvin is a steal at #45. Broyles is a good pick up in the 3rd. I don't think we need to spend a super high pick on interior OL. Maybe I'm in the minority. I honestly think this team likes Costa, and I think they hope Arkin will be the future. Costa just really needs to improve on his snaps or else he'd be better off as a OG.

Good work! I think you nailed some picks like Leonard Johnson in the 6th, not the 3rd/4th.

Since it's earier for me to analyze your mock than to create one myself, here are a few thoughts:

Brockers - IMO, Dallas believes that DeCasto can play OC in which case they would not pass him up for Brockers.
Josh Norman - Lower, IMO.
Irvin - Not shocked.
Hayward - Lower, IMO.
Branch - Much Higher, IMO.
Wolfe - Maybe Higher.
Reyes - Higher, IMO.
Blake - Much Higher, Maybe 3rd round, IMO.
Jeffery Demps - He is not playing in 2012.

No I didn't get that far. I have special teams data in the database but didn't get as far as programming it into the draft. I just ran out of time. Maybe next year

Yeah I didn't see that until today. I only have DeCastro listed at Guard in my DB. Had I listed him at Center as well I think he might of been the pick. I'm not sure though. I'll have to change that and do a couple of runs to see what would have happened.

Irvin - Not shocked.

I don't think this one will happen due to character concerns. I had planned on putting in a way for it to deal with flags on players on a Team by Team basis as each team deals with flags differently but didn't bet that far.

Branch - Much Higher, IMO.

He has an upper 2nd round grade in the database but the recent rise of Chandler jones and the resurgance of Bruce Irvin are probably why he slid here. As of last week with the same grade he was consistently getting drafted in the top half of the 2nd and even ocassionally sneaking into the end of the first. More supply than demand I guess.

Reyes - Higher, IMO.

Same as above except in my Database he carried a mid to lower mid 2nd round grade.

Blake - Much Higher, Maybe 3rd round, IMO.

I gave him a late 3rd early 4th grade.

Jeffery Demps - He is not playing in 2012.
