Someone should ask Goose if he would advise NFL teams to trade each of their elite players for two average starers.

You're too busy being offended to even consider what I'm saying. I just said it's not unreasonable that only Clairborne will be starting from this class in 2012. Meaning, it's reasonable that the rest of them will need more time.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Im well aware of who the new starters will most likely be, just pointing out that you listed Carter twice in your post.. if you couldn't figure that out, that's on you.

You also brought up Polamalu who didn't play much his first year but became a Pro Bowler in his second season. If Wilbur or Johnson come anywhere close to that, we'll be darn lucky.

..and just to make it clear, im not completely poo poo-ing this draft. Just think there were some much better options then the guys we took at certain spots. I think it was average. We'll get some players, but in 3 years i doubt there's more than one or two guys other than Claiborne still on the team. I don't think Goose said anything that was incorrect, which was the only thing i was saying all along. If you guys wana disagree with him or be upset with him for it that's fine, but he's about right imo.

The "Goose" personality captured here:

Best part is the Goose's favorite website is shirtless-men.com.

You can mark it down right now.. if you have a LB coming out of Linebacker U.. they're always first rounders.

Dallas put an emphasis on defending the pass and imo that is what they needed to do.

If we don't get faster on defense than we'll never stop Philly and we got a lot faster plus we have 3 corners who can man up.

Hopefully the pass rush steps up but at least we have more pressure players today than we did before Friday afternoon.
Stopping the pass is fine, and it would be my main focus as well.. just don't like some of the players we chose and felt there were better options out there. Example, i'd much rather have Boykin right now than Johnson.

Yeah we'll see.

I question Johnson as well but his production and phyiscal measurables will at least let me wait and see.

Plus after we drafted Claiborne give me Safety > Corner

I've also heard that Mario Butler is a guy to watch out for in camp.

Two average starters isn't nearly as good as four substandard starters. Just as long as you can call them "starters".

What grade would you give the Cowboys draft overall?

Gosselin: I thought the Cowboys had an average draft. I'm not sure they drafted more than one starter for 2012 -- and this is a non-playoff team that needs more help than that from its draft class.
Contradict yourself much? You need more than one year to judge a rookie, but yet he can judge a rookie class that hasn't even had one single workout.
"Can we get Drew Bledsoe back out here just for a week, so you guys can fall back in love with Tony? Let's sign Drew Bledsoe back for a week. Because sometimes when you have a pretty girl for so long, you forget how pretty she is. But when you put an ugly girl next to her, 'Oh, no, I'm really doing well.' And maybe we need to bring Drew back, so we can back to 'Oh, no, we're really doing well.'"

lol..
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

My problem with Goose is hypocrisy. He constantly chirps that "blue chip" players are what wins in the NFL and the 'Boys jump up and get one and he doesn't like that either.

Default Let's go back

in time and see how " the Goose' " theory worked under Jimmah Jenius:

1989 draft ( 2nd rnd - 12th rnd )
13 picks = 1 starter - Darryl Johnston

1990 draft ( 2nd rnd - 12th rnd )
4 picks = ZERO starters

1991 draft ( 2nd rnd - 12th rnd )
15 picks = 1 starter - Larry Brown

1992 draft ( 2nd rnd - 12th rnd )
13 picks = ZERO starters

1993 draft ( 2nd rnd - 12th rnd )
13 picks - 1 starter - Darrin Smith

5 years, 58 picks, 3 rookie starters in round 2nd - 12th.

Default Now let's go

back to last year and find out how many players that started at least 1 game were picked from the 2nd round until the 7th round

2011 Draft

2nd rnd = 11 out of 32 picks
( Andy Dalton, Jabaal Sheard, Akeem Ayers, Brooks Reed, Titus Young, Orlando Franklin, Lance Kendricks, Stefen Wisniewski, Torrey Smith, Greg Little, Marcus Gilbert )

3rd rnd = 7 out 33 picks
( Terrel McClain, Kelvin Sheppard, Justin Houston, John Moffitt, Jerrell Casey, Mason Foster, Chris Conte )

4th rnd = 4 out of 34 picks
( K.J. Wright, Sam Acho, Luke Stocker, Quinton Carter )

5th rnd = 4 out of 34 picks
( DJ Williams, Denarius Moore, Jason Pinkston, Richard Sherman, )

6th rnd = 3 out 38 picks
( Charles Clay, Jason Kelce, Brian Rolle )

7th rnd = 0 out 51 picks

That's a grand total of 29 starters out of 222 players selected between the 2nd and 7th rounds.

Another miss for " the Goose ".

Butler is a guy alot of us liked after TC last year, but alot of us were also suprised that despite our DB struggles and injuries last season he never was given a shot to come up and get any game time.
