I find that very hard to be believe.
But the way things have been going, I guess you never know.
Life would easier for them in basketball and, no offense, but the academic standards are much lower (FSU and Clemson are in the lower quartile of the ACC in that regard).
VT, Miami, FSU, and Clemson are the best teams in ACC football, so it would really damage the ACC further on the gridiron.
Clemson and especially FSU are on the rise big-time in football again, so they'd make a nice addition to the big 12!
The dominos would see the Big East getting hosed again. The ACC has been robbing them of many of their best programs for awhile now. lol

It looks like these are just blog rumors that all the east coast writers and reporters have been discrediting the last couple of days.

I would not say that the ACC is more stable. Heck, there are rumors that two highly successful members are looking to jump conferences. The Big XII has solidified over the past year. If anything, they continue to grow. They have signed a new TV deal that will probably be one of the most lucrative, if not the most lucrative contract in College Sports. I don't know if it will happen but it's not beyond the scope of belief. The Big 12 will continue to expand. It's only a matter of time as to when.

I fully expect it to expand, I just expect that expansion to be along the lines of Louisville, Cincinnatti, etc.
And both the Pac-12 and SEC are preparing to sign multi-billion dollar television contracts within the next year that are expected to be the largest broadcasting contracts in the history of cable television, sports or otherwise. They will dwarf the NFL's cable contracts. They will essentially gurantee that every single Pac-12 and SEC game in both basketball and football will be able to be seen nationally by anyone with more than a basic cable package.

What does this statement, true or false, have to do with anything? I think we are talking about the Big 12 and the ACC right?

And football is what the conferences/superconferences are geared up for. Being a good basketball program would only be a bonus, but you better have a good football program first and foremost. And while FSU has struggled over recent years as far as winning, they do bring other aspects related to football to the table.

They had a great year last year but they have had ups and downs. I like their BB Coach and they have a solid geography from which to recruit. They would be an instant hit in the Big 12. They have a very good Baseball program as well. Would provide the Big 12 with access to that Florida recruiting hot bed and I've no doubt that they would pull athletes from Texas as well. Same story to a lessor extent with Clemson. The addition of FSU, Clemson (if it comes to fruition) to go along with WV and TCU are, IMO, more then adequate replacements for the loss of Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri and TAMU.

I think some teams in the ACC are starting to feel how some teams in the Big East felt...that the basketball schools run the conference and football is not getting the attention it deserves.
I know some fans of some of the ACC football teams that have expressed their displeasure that the ACC did not go out and get better football teams instead of bringing in Pitt and Syracuse who are better known NOW for basketball vs football.
Now it is perceived in some conferences that some teams kind of run the conference (say Texas/Oklahoma in the big 12) and who gets in. Now I said perceived. It is perceived by many fans in the ACC that North Carolina and Duke kind of run things of who gets into the ACC and they are more geared towards getting good basketball schools vs football schools. I don't know how much merit there is to that claim as they did go out and get Miami and VT some years ago and they were clearly football first schools.
I will also that I don't know if Clemson and FSU wind up going to the Big 12 but I trust what I have read enough to believe they have had or are currently having talks about it at the very least.
Who knows if it really happen. If it did, it would clearly be a good thing for the Big 12.

See that is another reason I think the Big 12 would really be interested in FSU is due to the florida recruiting area.
Texas and Florida really does a large and productive recruiting area and if the Big 12 is going to expand they really should look into bringing in a School from Florida...if not FSU than one of the smaller schools.

i hope we can get these two schools, not only for what they bring in football, but it would make it easier for WVU fans to travel to than most of the big 12 schools.

It means that all the major conferences are cutting huge new TV deals, that isnt something just the Big XII has going for it. Hell the ACC has a great current deal in place that was larger than the one the Big XII had this past year.
