2013 NFL Draft Top 5 Offensive and Defensive Prospects
Quarterbacks
Matt Barkley, USC, 6-2 230
* Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech, 6-6 262
* Tyler Bray, Tennessee, 6-6 213
Tyler Wilson, Arkansas, 6-3 220
Landry Jones, Oklahoma, 6-4 229
Matt Barkley has started since his Freshman year and is a proven leader for the USC Trojans although I do have concerns about his arm strength. Thomas has great size and mobility that you look for in a signal caller. A concern of mine is will Thomas’s growth be stunted with the Virginia Tech having to replace four offensive lineman from this past season.
Running Backs
Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina, 6-0 218
Knile Davis, Arkansas, 6-0 226
Montee Ball, Wisconsin, 5-11 212

CBS' Dane Brugler takes an early look ahead to 2013's top 50 prospects.
Quote:
1. QB Matt Barkley, USC
Doesn't have "wow" physical tools, but boasts the resume, leadership and decision-making to be a top pick in 2013
2. DE Barkevious Mingo*, LSU
This explosive edge rusher stood out on the Nation's most talented defensive line and will remind scouts of Von Miller
3. DT Johnathan Hankins*, Ohio State
Defensive linemen that are 335-pounds aren't supposed to move like he can, recording 11.0 tackles for loss in 2011
4. QB Tyler Wilson, Arkansas
He lost three of his top receivers to the draft and won't have Bobby Petrino on the sidelines, but the sky's the limit
5. WR Robert Woods*, Southern Cal
Like his QB, he won't test off-the-charts physically, but he's a polished route runner and knows how to get open

Tyler Bray's the most intriguing prospects for me. In the half the mock's I've seen, he's top 10. In the other half, he's not even in the first round...

Unless we have struck gold we should be drafting OLB in the first round if there is appropriate value. We need a Spencer replacement and Ware will begin to slow down.

yup I agree OLB, TE, DE, DT, OC, OG, RB, DB, ILB, WR, OT, QB probably an early look at how the needs fall for this team if Romo plays 8-9 more years QB is not a priority yet

You are smoking crack if you think Romo is playing 8-9 more years.

I wonder how much that list will change when we are approaching the draft next year.
Always some that shoot way up the draft boards that were not on these lists and always those there were on the lists that fall really far in the draft.

A lot. You might find eventual late round or undrafted players on some top 50 lists right now.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

it puts Romo at 38 years old certainly not unheard of in the NFL so perhaps it wasn't me so much smoking crack but perhaps you perpetuity of smelling crack where the problem lies.

Is it too early for me to begin campaigning for Johnathan Hankins at NT?
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Yes, it's not unheard of, but it's a very short list.
