What is largely forgotten is that the swindling of the Minnesota Vikings might not have been possible if not for a forgotten 1984 deal in which the Cowboys sent wide receiver Butch Johnson to Houston in exchange for fellow wideout Mike Renfro, plus the right to swap second-round picks in the '84 draft and the Oilers' fifth-rounder in '85. A year later, the Cowboys used that thrown-in pick to select Herschel Walker following the end of his United States Football League career. The rest, as they say, is history.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Fourteen members of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders said they were quitting the squad because then new owner Jerry Jones wanted them to wear skimpier uniforms, fraternize with the players and appear in beer commercials. Of course Jones denied that he wanted to make such changes. I remeber that like it was yesterday.

Correct -- I also recall allegations of spandex and biker shorts but again Jones denied that. I wonder if he created the R&B Dancers so he could experiment with their unis?

I'm sure your dad heard that about Newhouse because it sounds like an apt description. But the quote I was looking for was that Edwards said tackling Newhouse was like tackling a shot put.
