Nope, same job requirements...and you still discount improving from journeyman to savy veteran in that process.

well only someone with common sense would indeed feel that a player that is now entering his SIXTH year should have made that transistion LONG before now.
ANYONE thinking that Spencer is suddenly going to play a lot better is frankly on drugs

Really? Well, we'll just see which team has the better outside pressure and wins out in the NFC East. Philadelphia with Cole and Babin, or Dallas with Ware and Spencer....throw in some upgrade in Hatcher, Ratliff, and Lissimore, and that all may prove a mute consideration as well.
Right now, Spencer is one of the team's top ten players.
As to the past and better dominance on a Cowboy's team, except for a year and a half with Ellis and a young Ware, one would have to look all the way back to Too Tall, Martin, and Pugh.
Quickly, who was paired with Charles Haley in 1995?
There's no right way to do the wrong thing.
To compete for the playoffs, Dallas has to improve here: Only four sacks against Eli Manning over the past six games!

I just took a look at all of Anthony Spencer's sacks from last season.
wk 1 vs Jets - 1 sack
4th qtr, 3rd and 10, Spencer at ROLB
Spencer was immediately stoned by LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson and acted for a second like he might peel out to cover the RB releasing to the flat (who had Sean Lee on him). QB Mark Sanchez had no throw and attempted to scramble up the middle. Spencer had a straight line to the QB for an uncontested sack on a play where he generated no rush at all.
wk 2 vs Niners - 1 sack
2nd qtr, 1st and 10, Spencer at LOLB
Spencer tightened up his alignment just before the snap and shot inside of TE Vernon Davis, who barely got his hands on the Boilermaker before trying to release into a route. Alan Ball was also coming in free on a LCB blitz and DT Josh Brent was right behind Spencer, who downed Alex Smith before the QB could even set his feet.
wk 3 vs Redskins - 1 sack
4th qtr, 2nd and 10, Spencer at LOLB
Spencer used an outside rush vs RT Jammal Brown and had no angle to Rex Grossman in the pocket. Luckily, Demarcus Ware immediately spun inside LT Trent Williams and forced the QB to abandon the pocket. Grossman scrambled to his left and put himself directly in Spencer's crosshairs for a sack and fumble which Sean Lee recovered.
wk 9 vs Seattle - 1 sack
4th qtr, 3rd and 1, Spencer at LOLB
Spencer had 2 blitzing defenders lined up outside of him and got a free path inside with the LG barely even getting a hand on him. Spencer got to a scrambling QB Tavaris Jackson just before the blitzing Alan Ball.
wk 12 vs Dolphins - 1 sack
4th qtr, 2nd and 9, Spencer at LOLB
Spencer dropped into coverage in the flat and came up when QB Matt Moore scrambled his way. Moore slid when near Spencer and gave
himself up, looking to have just crossed the line of scrimmage. The announcers didn't mention a sack, but it was evidently ruled as
one.
wk 13 vs Cardinals - 1 sack
4th qtr, 2nd and 9, Spencer at ROLB
Spencer dropped into coverage on the FB and chucked him to the turf at the line of scrimmage. QB Kevin Kolb was flushed by a delayed blitz
from Sean Lee, who just missed a shoe string sack of the fleeing signal caller. Kolb offered a quick pump fake on the move but had nowhere to throw and was dropped for the sack by Spencer.

2. He's in a contract year.
As has been stated already last year was a contract year for him except that apparently nobody tried to throw money at him. Am I missing something?
So here he is again in a similar situation (Possibly with more urgency to perform) yet hopefully a better secondary behind him. I'll be happy with 8-10 sacks from Spencer...

He had six sacks last year? That's a pretty respectable number for a guy who is a standout run defender and valuable in coverage.

Try answering some of the questions, burma...and lay off the dirty lawyer jokes.
Your arguments against either Jerry Jones or Anthony Spencer always conclude with they are both dirtbags and anyone not agreeing is a fool.
You never were successful in any attempt to explain away why he is STILL one of the top ten players on this same Dallas Cowboys.
Prior to play on the field, any salary discussion is purely secondary.
Now pull out your next stereotype and personal slander...

He was never in free agency as a RESTRICTED player. Where do people come up with this stuff?
In that sense, nobody threw money at Drew Brees or Wes Welker this year either so...............
Best Oline for Cowboys:
LT: Free LG: Mankins C: Gurode RG: Holland RT:Young (or an early draft pick)
Hatcher = better overall player than Spears (equal run stopping; better pass rushing)

Beings that you hide behind every excuse in the deck, one has to summize that you really don't feel that Spencer is the dirtbag that you call everyone else a fool for not acnowledgeing.
