Default My Wishes For This Team

There could be so many things I could wish for.

An offensive line for Romo.
An OLB that can bring the smack down across from Ware.
A nose tackle so Ratt can move to end.
A killer attitude that intimidates.

A string of Super Bowl victories over the next five years.

But of all the things I'd wish for, hope for, plead with the Gods of football, my most important, and one that could be more realistic than all those others is this:

Get a Championship ring for Witten.

I respect the truly gifted players on this team. Regardless of what some think I really appreciate Romo. Ware is greatness.

But Witten is the one guy who comes in week after week doing the dirty job of patrolling the middle and catching the needed pass to move the chains. He also is assigned jobs of blocking people and taking that punishment to protect Romo.

I think back to the play where he lost his helmet but never gave up. That was a moment where I sat in awe of his fortitude.

I'm not sure he is my favorite player on the team currently. But of all the players, this is one guy I'd love to see hoist the trophy before he calls it quits.

With this team, of course.

We get so caught up in our squabbles that we sometimes ignore guys who seem to be the heartbeat of their prospective squads.

This is what I think Witten is.

And for that reason, if I had my wishes, it would be this guy gets a ring.

Good stuff, TooDeep. It'd be a nice end to a HOF/ROH type career, that's for sure.

I feel the same way about Romo. He's put in the work, he's taken all the criticism. Some of it legit, lately it's been unfair. He's done everything right in his approach since he came in here as an undrafted afterthought. It'd be a storybook ending to see him hoist a Lombardi before he hangs it up.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

He is for me and has been for many years, so yeah, I totally agree with you. I would love to see the longest tenured starter on the team with a ring. He definately deserves one.

We all like Witten. He's a great guy, but there are others on this team. Heck you can probably find a Witten on most every team and unfortunately they all can't get a ring.

Here's hoping our guy gets his and what I'm wishing for to make that happen...

1) Health. Not 100% health or even 1992 health. Just well above average like we had in 2007. Especially for the cornerstone guys.

2) Carter and Dez play to their physical abilities. We've seen Dez and know what he can do. If he has the playbook down and Romo's confidence, he can be the best WR not named Megatron. Carter is certainly more of an unknown, but I just have a feeling about him. Just a handful of "wow" plays in 2011 to make me think he can be a star. If he has his assignments down even 90%, I think we're going to have a real special playmaker in 2012.
I think his athleticism is going to be huge in the eagles match-ups.

3) LG, OC and RG. Not asking for the world here, just three guys to step up and play average.

IF we can get that, we'll be a contender.

I love Witten and he deserves a Super Bowl, but Tony and D-Ware deserve it every much as he does.

I'm surely not suggesting they are not.

But it seems Witten stands in their shadows a great deal and I suppose that's why I'd like to see him get a championship under his belt.

I agree on Romo but hopefully he can retire with multiple Lombardi's before retiring....call me greedy if you will.

Cause everyone knows once Romo wins his first people will start saying he needs 2 to prove it wasn't a fluke.

"Wow only 400 yards 3 touchdowns no interception with SB MvP? Nah Romo got carried"

That's exactly what will happen. Romo even said it himself.

I'm making your sig a quiz for myself:

Romo, Murray, Austin, Bryant, Witten, Free, Smith, Costa, Bernadeau, Livings, Vickers

Coleman, Hatcher, Ratliff, Spencer, Ware, Lee, Conner, Jenkins, Carr, Sensabaugh, Pool

9, 29, 19, 88, 82, 68, 77, 67, 73, 71, 47

99, 97, 90, 93, 94, 50, 52, 21, 39, 43, 23

Every year, I try to be able to recognize every player including UDFAs and know their number before I get to training camp. I hate it when they change numbers between training camp and the start of the season because I've already got their Training Camp number ingrained in my head.
