With all of the excuses you made for Romo, how did the Cowboys finish 2nd in total yards in 2009?
The OL was good enough to gain yards, but not good enough to put points on the board?

How in the hell is it ALL Romo's fault? Good god did you even watch the Vikings playoff game? Ray Edwards & Jared Allen had Romo running for his life. Not to mention Sensy's great coverage skills on Sidney Rice but oh yeah thats prolly Romo's fault too. Why bash our teams starting QB who has his whole career exceeded the expectations of a UDFA QB. Your probably some dude that plays Madden all the time & thinks b/c YOU can score 30+ with the Cowboys then Romo should too. Your obviously not a fan of the Cowboys b/c no TRUE fan would sit here & throw his teams starting QB under the bus.

I haven't read through this thread, but is it possible that when you have no ability to run the ball in the red zone that it might sorta effect your points scored?
When was the last time we had a back score double digit TDs? Barber did it one year. Who before that? Emmitt? It's been that bad.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

C'mon, RS. I mean, we had 5 offensive rushing TD's last year. It's not like we were dead last in the league or anything. Cleveland earned that distinction w/ only 4. We were tied for next-to-last with Kansas City.
So, proof positive... Romo must be the weak link. And 1+1=3.

This thread is silly.
The points scored were up mostly due to an improved running game, better pass protection and a defense that started forcing a lot of turnovers once coach P took over the reigns and started blitzing DBs and playing more zone coverages. Other teams weren't expecting it and didn't adjust.
I think Kitna played well under the conditions and there is probably an element of truth to the idea that Garrett was calling a very different game with Kitna under center. I really don't know how much of that was due to the changing of the QBs or due to other factors.
I really think Dallas has been playing undermanned on the OL since the 2007 season. The problem in 2008 was Kosier's injury which resulted in Jerry making a last minute deal for an overrated WR instead of investing in the OL. During the 2009 season you could suddenly see a remarkable inability to gain a yard by the end zone although the rest of the short yardage running wasn't that bad. I just think that old interior OL couldn't get low enough on the goalline with the other team selling out and submarining their ageing knees and hips. Now once 2010 arrived it was the same except everyone but Free was older and worse - especially Colombo and Davis. Now come 2011 we were very weak up the middle initially with Costa and Nagy playing poorly. Then there was a point in the middle where Costa wasn't a weakness, Holland was playing well and Kosier was okay. But then later in the season Kosier started to fall apart and when combined with Free's issues we again had huge issues with blocking against the Giants and Eagles in the last quarter of the season leading to 3 losses.
So I am really looking forward to this season when even with Costa at Center I don't think we'll have any bottom 5 OL in the league anymore. None of these guys are old and done and none of them should be too immature and inexperienced. I still don't know what it'll look like for sure on the field but I do think this will be our best OL since 2007. I think this team is stronger at QB, WR and RB than that 2007 team so I am really looking forward to seeing what they can do.
I still hold some hope that my guy, Killer, will beat someone out of a job. I do think the more likely scenario is that he will be the first guy off the bench and may become a starter if someone misses a few games.

So you think the Cowboys would be better off with Orton? Am I actually reading these words? Does someone who actually thinks this know how to use a computer?

So Kitna gets credit for Bryan McCann's 100 yard INT return vs. the Giants? Seems fair to me.

Find a GM in the league that would have taken Kitna over Romo.

What you're saying is the 5th highest scoring player in the entire league needs to score more points and that you don't understand that total team points isn't just points scored by the QB.

kitna played only a handful of games, also defense created more turnovers once wade left.
at the end of the day, our yearly averages are indicative of how mediocre our offense has been.
