The ending was great. That was one of the big things I liked about the show. The endings of each season were always great. He wrapped them up well.

[View Full Quote]While I don't think Breaking Bad has had a bad season, I also don't think that its highs are as high as The Sopranos, The Wire or Lost. I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan, but at their best, The Sopranos, The Wire and Lost are the best things I've ever seen. Some of that may have to do with the fact that I'm more emotionally invested in the characters from those other shows. Because Walt has basically lost his soul, I don't care as much about him as I did the characters from the other shows, so their actions impacted me more. Even Tony Soprano had some endearing qualities. I still love and root for Jesse, but Walt has completely broken bad now. Whatever happens to him, while I will be completely 100% into it, it won't have the same impact that what happened to Tony, Omar Little or Jack Shephard had on me.

Even at Dexter's best(pre season 5), while it was very entertaining and I love the show, the writing on that show has never even come close to the same universe as Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, etc. Dexter is one of those shows where you just have to ignore the bad writing on even in the early seasons because it's a fun show.

If you haven't seen Treme, David Simon's latest show on HBO, you should check it out. It's about life in post Katrina New Orleans, and while it's far more of a character study than a social commentary like The Wire, it's a phenomenal show. He brought over some of the same actors, and there have been 2 seasons so far with the third starting this fall.

I've watched both seasons of Treme. I like it but not as much as The Wire. I do like the music though.

Yeah, it's nowhere near as good as The Wire, not even close. I do enjoy the show though, both for the music, as well as the characters.
I thought last season when (spoiler in quotes)

Harley, played by Steve Earle died, it was heartwrenching. I love the work he did on both The Wire(as Bub's sponsor) and Treme.

BB is head and shoulders better than The Wire in every aspect.

I can't say the wire is better than any of the shows mentioned.
Of course I can't say that because I have never watched the wire.
However I just don't think I would like it better than the Sopranos or Breaking Bad.
Even with the occasional slow episodes or a season or two that is not as good as the others...I still think Breaking Bad and the Sopranos was some of the best shows on tv.
Also loved Deadwood but they screwed up and got rid of that show too early.

You'd have to read the previous posts to get the context. I said Treme was not even close to as good as The Wire. Yeager and I were having a tangential conversation about David Simon's TV shows.
That being said, I consider The Wire and Breaking Bad to be my two favorite shows of all time, but the acting is the only place where Breaking Bad is better imo. They're honestly apples and oranges as far as TV shows go though, because one of them is a character study about a normal guy's transformation into Scarface, and the other is a social commentary about the two Americas that exist, why the drug war is a failure, how lives are changed in drastic ways because of where a kid was born, etc.
Comparing them directly just doesn't make sense to me. They're both just phenomenal in all regards.

So I imagine Walt goes full on Heisenberg some point soon which will lead to where he is at the beginning of episode one.

The scene where Mike was sitting outside of Saul's office while Huell was sleeping on his feet had me cracking up. You could see Mike thinking is this the best you can do.

I wonder that also. I also thought it might be the guy who told him about the nanny camera.
