It only works if the team shows it can buy enough time to go vertical.

Why would a team not play for shorter drops and quick passes if you haven't shown you can protect long enough to throw long consistently?

The keys to avoiding negative plays by the quarterback are to establish a running game and force a team to work for pressure. (If a team can stop the run and put pressure on the quarterback without blitzing or bringing up a safety, then there's going to be sacks and negative plays.)
Ok well that means the coach needs a offensive strategy to help his QB. So it sounds like the blame should be on garrett not the offensive line which is why I want him to be gone if the Cowboys miss the playoffs

So it's not possible for Romo to throw a quick 5 yd pass over the top?

Well maybe Romo should start getting paid less since he shouldn't be held accountable right now due to the weak O-Line?

With all the talk about how bad our o-line is. I find it odd that Romo has only been on the ground 14 times this year. link attached.

Cruddy OL play can pretty much turn any great QB into just a OK/mediocre one.

Rodgers has been sacked 21 times this year and the Packers offense is mere shadow of it's former self.

They let their pro-bowl center (Scott Wells) go in free agency and they are paying dearly for it.

I see parallels in Romo's and Rodgers seasons due to poor OL play.

So all Romo needs to do is make sure his receivers run the right route, catch the ball when it hits them in the hands, run block, call the offensive plays all while avoiding the other teams pass rushers that cut through the hot garbage that the Cowboys' offensive line has become?

Of course...I see it now and will write Tony a very stern letter asking why he hasn't been successful since cryptonite is his only weakness since, after all, only Superman could do such things.

Maybe his spin move has something to do with that

QB Tony Romo has played 4 "Win or Go Home" games since 2008 (includes 2 playoff gms) -- in 3 of them, his QBR was less than 20"

Jerry? Is that you trying to save some money on Romo before the contract talk starts?

All he has to do is not TURNOVER THE BALL. That is something that he can control

Not surprising at all since one of Tony Romo's main strengths is his ability to move in the pocket and avoid the rush.

Take your agenda elsewhere because it is old and getting annoying.

so you dont think an offensive line that can barely handle the snap without getting a penalty, provides no running lanes and cant protect long enough to complete a three step drop should be to blame for this mess?.....along with his TE and WRs dropping a quarter of everything thrown at em, cant line up or run the correct routs ...you think its all on Romo huh?....hell...he should get more money for putting up with this ****

In 2006, when Bledsoe started, the OL was allowing all kinds of sacks and was considered bad.

After Romo started, the same OL all of sudden had players going to the pro bowls.

Similar thing happened with the 90's OL when E. Smith was drafted.

There are some pretty elusive QBs getting hit more than Romo. The difference is they take the hit and don't force the bone headed turnover. You gotta know when to hold them...know when to fold them, right?
