Video Video - A Football Life- The Fearsome Foursome

When men were men, and they didn't wear skirts.

"I just kind of stopped in the middle of a route, which is the worst thing you can do," Ogletree said. "He just told me, 'What were you thinking?' I kind of mumbled something to him and he was like, 'You're stupid.' "

"If we can get the running game going early, that'll open up the passing game for Troy." - Jerry Jones, 11/12/12

Because most of those guys are all suing the league now from injuries sustained from playing like that.

What? These guys are all immortal and played the game the way it was meant to be played.

Seriously though...

Merlin Olsen is dead, and I guarantee you Deacon Jones isn't suing anyone. Don't know about the other two.

Maybe not those guys, but...

As of October 2, 2012, there are 3,690 named player-plaintiffs in the 159 complaints. Including the players’ spouses, there are more than 5,200 plaintiffs total.

Nathan Fenno from the Washington Times has put together a masterful database listing all of the player-plaintiffs in the NFL concussion lawsuits. It can be accessed here. I will defer to this list for now on.

Partial list of plaintiffs: Concussion MDL Plaintiff List

Do you think alot of it is the FA era, where players dont really get enough time to gel with each other? We just dont see any more dominant defenses and we really dont have much dominant players nowadays.

Well free agency plays a part in a lot of things being different from in the past. There will always be dominant players. Ware, Jared Allen, and some others to name a few.

But good teams who draft well consistently can field a pretty good defense regularly. But I can't see down the line dominant defenses like that anymore. The last defense that was dominant like in the old days was the Ravens D when they won the superbowl.

When Football was Football...

Also, for those of you that forget or are too young to give a damn

Notice that the O-Linemen back then weren't all fat slobs like they are today.

Nope, at 22 I'm nothing more than a child in the grand scheme of life.

I'm just not like most 22 year olds who don't give a rat's behind about the past. I love history...and have been told time and time again from my elders that I'm an old soul.
