Not being disrespectful, but the opinions of the the people you know in SD don't have a thing to do with whether he'll get criticized by ESPN, which your whole post was about.
ESPN gets no satisfaction from criticizing Rivers because the people who run the network are from the philly/NJ area.

Maybe not, but it doesn't mean they don't do it.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

You will hear it tonight, and tomorrow morning because the game was tonight. Then after that it's over.

You won't hear anything else about Rivers after Tuesday because ESPN is located on the East Coast

Maybe if they had a ESPN West LOL

I have always wondered how Norv kept his job. That team disappoints year after year.

No, he isn't... Turner runs heavy play-action, Garrett doesn't. Norv's offense doesn't take the whole play clock to snap the ball. Norv's offense throws screens an average of six times a game. Norv is a genius OC and consistently makes QBs play their best under him. His offense also doesn't have red-zone scoring issues.

Garrett's offense is nothing like Norv's other than the fact he was with the Cowboys when he was coaching. Garrett is more like Mike Martz and Cad Cameron in reality.

Norv's offensive coaching runs circles around the majority of the league...

Wow... you'd defend Garrett and never laugh at his atrocious calling, but laugh at an OC that Aikman credits for his HoF career and the same OC that made us pretty much the most dominant and unstoppable offense of the 90s... one that also pretty much gave a scrub like Alex Smith his best year as a QB.

this is your example of fair? Phillip Rivers threw some mind-boggling INTs...

Not defending anyone, but Norv has not done much in SD and I love how excuses are made for other teams. I like Norv and as an OC in Dallas he did a great job but as a HC what has he done? And he is in a very weak division. Oak, KC and Denver?

Whose making excuses?

Norv has an established track-record as a great offensive mind. He's an average head coach, but at least he's earned his credibility as one of the greatest offensive minds in the game, based upon multiple teams he's coached. In fact, with his departure from the Cowboys, began our deterioration offensively. Zampese was horrible as an OC, with his 3rd and long, pass behind the chains. Our red-zone scoring started to nose-dive that same year.

Even as a HC, he's won play-off games and took a crappy Redskins team to one fumble away from the NFC championship game. He may be in a crappy division, but his team played in the AFC and played when they were the supreme conference and all the great QBs. They almost made it to the Superbowl in the AFC championship game and if it weren't for the crappy special teams the year they missed the play-offs, they had the number one ranked offense and defense one year.

To compare him to Jason Garrett is just dumb, even from an offensive philosophical stand-point. Garrett played under Norv for a couple of years max. That's it...

Even with Norv being an average head coach, he'd be much better than Jason Garrett here...

Evidently you are accusing me of making excuses for Garrett. I judge Norv like any other HC. His team blew it last night they stunk last season and he has been there for a while now. I liked him as OC for the Cowboys so what that was many years ago but as a HC Norv has had a lot of time and not much success. I can't compare a HC who has been in that position for 2 years vs a man who has been a HC for several years and with 2 different NFL teams.

Your forgot the lousy Raiders... and once again, he took a Redskins team to the brink of the NFC championship game in his first stint as head coach, just like he took San Diego, when given decent talent... They've been the play-offs plenty, with equivalent talent.

A SD team in a very weak division. I don't think he is a bad coach I don't think he is a great coach. He was a damn good OC when he had Aikman, Irvin and Emmitt Smith along with an outstanding OL. SD OL did not look that great and the play calling with a 24 point lead? Lets see Garrett was roasted because he kept passing the ball but Norv doing it was alright?

So what if they are in a weak division. The Cowboys also play plenty of stench year around. The Redskins have been bottom-dwellers and the eagles were awful last year.

You seem to miss the point yet again. Norv has a track record of producing great offenses. Garrett doesn't... Norv can call a bad game even if we accept the argument he 'kept passing the ball', Garrett continually calls bad games.

Again, Norv has taken his team to the AFC championship game and almost took a pretty weak Redskins team to the NFC championship game, only missing it by a botched fumble.
