I think the real confusion is that most anniversaries are based on specific dates, not time periods. I think most organizations treat a time period based anniversary as a past tense thing .. as in "We've played X seasons/years!" .. rather than a "this season is our Xth season."
I can see the argument for both sides, but it really is subjective when it comes to time period based anniversaries.

I don't disagree in the least. Which is why I think/thought the venomous, unwavering threads and posts on this a couple of years back were so childish.
Besides, I was right!

I don't know why anyone would actually care. It's such a trivial thing to be upset about. Especially when the quality of play on the field is so bad.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

This only reminded me of losing to them in their first game.

Yes, they got it wrong too.
2002 = 1
2003 = 2
2004 = 3
2005 = 4
2006 = 5
2007 = 6
2008 =7
2009 =8
2010 = 9
2011 = 10
2012 = 11
Tex Schramm got it right in 1984.

Are they celebrating their 10th year, or 10th anniversary? Two very different things.

I married my wife in 1990. I thought I just celebrated my 22nd anniversary with her but I guess it was really the 21st. I am confused.....

This is very simple. If you are celebrating the Nth season, then your formula is CurrentYear - StartingYear + 1. If you are instead celebrating an anniversary, it is just CurrentYear - StartingYear.

If you are celebrating playing 10 season, your anniversary is the final game of the 10th season. Not the first game of your 10th season.
Now, you can say we *are* playing in our 10th season, but you still haven't played 10 full seasons until you complete the 10th season.
When you get married, you celebrate your 1st anniversary after your first year, not the day you got married. You celebrate your 10th anniversary once you begin your 11th year of marriage. That is, if you were married on January 1st, 2000. You celebrate your 10th anniversary January 1st, 2010 which also happens to be the beginning of your 11th year being married.

If I'm not insulting you, I'm probably not aware that you exist.
Jerry Jones in the draft room is suicide on the football field. The line of scrimmage is EVERYTHING. Something Jerry doesn't understand.

Football seasons start at 1. Marriages start at 0. We played in 1960. That was 1. You married in 1990 (so did I). That was year 0, 1991 was year 1.

It doesn't bother me that anyone thinks it was nothing. To me, it was a big thing, and I am never going to be all right with that patch. Not even the day I fertilize daisies.
