Yea, unless you are the subject of torture and outrageous oppression, your female perspective is unimportant.

Stick with making lighters buddy, the crackheads still have major use for them. Market them to al the junkies that prefer to smoke their product. They will catch that commercial right before they sell their TV and such...first thing they will think of is a Bic lighter.
Seriously, you took that far too seriously. She is making fun of Bic for making pens for her, same as people make fun of other random things.
It is a joke. Sure it has some basis. But the reality is that "pens for her" is a stupid idea. I laugh at crap like that all the time.
They have been making fun of "Secret" deodorant forever it seems.
In my mind if it is strong enough for a man, I would have no problem using it if I needed to. So I smell a little floral today instead of like fresh cut onions...I will side with the floral every single time.

LOL...you get it. Too bad so many don't around here.

Obviously they will stand up for their rights should they be infringed upon but so do men. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

While I do not personally feel oppressed, I think that there are still inequalities for women in America. I do consider myself a feminist in that I believe that there are still shortcomings for women in many aspects of our society. I will try to be somewhat vague, as this could easily delve into politics, which I don't want to do.
All women do not receive equal pay, equal respect for position or right to privacy regarding our person. While there are some women that may accept these things for being "just the way things are," these ideas should not be devalued in the big picture.

Why are they making pens for women anyways? Last time I checked there didn't need to be any writing in the bedroom or kitchen.

not just that, in the end, only women can have children, most child care resp falls to them, even when they work full time, when they have children, they fall behind income wise, never really catch up etc
biggest thing I see holding women back in the US is the lack of a good maternity leave policy/benefits.
most western nations have policies in place where a woman can be off for a year with a child and be paid, either like Canada Employment Insurance benefits at about 50% of regular wage or in western europe, even more lucrative benefits (with a guaranteed job after a year)
My secretary is off for a year, just had her first child. She gets 52 weeks leave, 50 of which is on EI.

This is true. I consider myself very lucky to have what I feel are great benefits through my company. They offer a variety of plans and levels of coverage, from which we take the PPO plan which has covered almost everything really well.
They also provide 6 weeks of maternity leave or 8 if you have a c-section. This is a nice amount of time in this country. I know that many women are not so lucky.

Have you looked?
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

With that being said, I can name a TON of admirable women. Those women don't identify themselves as feminists though.

I think people tend to imagine the worst stereotypes when classifying people. If someone mentions activist, most people assume fist waving angry yelling lunatic. If someone mentions feminist, most people assume angry finger pointing woman who hates men. If someone mentions Canadian, well .. they're right about that one. I'm kidding, CCF!!
You get my point though .. most people who can be classified as "something" tend to be more moderate in their thinking, but the labels mark them as extreme. Just like it's always one of the idiots that seem to make their way on to national TV when something happens in your area, people are always going to look for and consider the worst stereotypes when judging others. It has always been like that and will always be like that.
