He'll be hurt by his association with the whole underachieving Cowboys argument. But he's on track to finish with 10,000+ yards 2nd to only Gonzalez as a TE. I think on sheer stats alone, he'll have to get in eventually. You also have to factor in that he for the majority of his career he was an above average blocker - not a 1 trick pony.

You agree that there's a super secret conspiracy to keep Cowboys out of the HOF?
Because I find that line of thinking laughable and weak.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

I doubt it. Not many TEs make it.

I think the voters have a general bias against the Cowboys, so this could affect him.
However, he's such an overall good guy that I say he gets in. If he gets a ring (which is doubtful), he's a shoo-in. Absent the ring, he still gets in, although I don't know about being a first ballot HOFer.
If anyone deserves a Super Bowl appearance, Witten does.

First ballot.
You've been weighed
You've been measured
And you've been found to be a casual fan

Believe me...I certainly hope not. I'm just thinking of any reason why voters would not vote him in. That's really the only thing i could come up with.

Nobody said there is a "super secret conspiracy." It's just the way that the voters have always voted. It's more difficult for Cowboys players to get in the Hall of Fame than it is for their comparable peers.

He should be a first ballot guy
But by the time he is retired and eligible the new basically wr type TEs will be the rage and he will be considered old fashioned.
I believe he will get in one day but it could be a long wait.
Not right since he is the best complete TE in the league and has been that way for years but there you are.

See Floyd Little and Don Perkins for reference, among many others.
