Very different positions

Too much common sense going on with this post, you've obviously never been in the army.

why do you only need to name one? you claimed there were MANY, so I asked you to name just a few.

I love Irvin. I know he was the soul of those teams. However, I have seen nothing from Witten that would make me believe he is not an outstanding leader. And, again, none of this actually has anything to do with the question that I asked.

Yep, Witten is a great leader by example, but Irvin was an all-time-great emotional-leader of a Cowboys team or any team for that matter.

Jon Machota ‏@jonmachota
Stephen Jones is pleased with the play of DeMarco Murray in his second season. Jones: "His only issue so far has just been staying healthy."

Irvin also played on a SUPERIOR team. Let's don't kid ourselves here. You are giving Witten too much for our lack of success and you're doing the same for Irvin's success.

Because there are so many facets that are the residual effects of LEADERSHIP. And there is no need for me to name all of them. Both Witten and Ware are "stat sheet stuffers". That crap Marty B pulled while he was in Dallas...would NEVER have happened in a lockeroom with Irvin, Emmit, Haley, Aikman etc...and I bring him up because he plays the same position as Witten...so they were in the meeting room together every day. What impact did Witten have on Bennett? Or was he more concerned about not losing playing time to stuff the stat sheets and pave the way for an induction into the Ring of Honor and maybe the HOF?

See....I for one cannot understand ANY threads on this board that start with is" ______ going to the HOF"?

Hello....you play to win the game. And I don't care how many catches you have...sacks you have...TDs you throw....this is a .500 outfit..and all of these so called great players on this team...or great lead by example players in this lockeroom don't move my needle...because NONE of it has amounted to winning. And so I question what some of these so-called great players on this team are in it for.

Let's thank goodness they don't go out there and play on Sunday. But do the Falcons respect him? Let's see if they single cover our receivers on Sunday.

Like I said in another post....we have been devoid of leadership for so long around here...that we do NOT realize how bad it is lacking. Sure the Cowboys in the 90s were good. But the dynasty died when Irvin fell to the turf in Vets stadium on 1999. Micheal Irvin...a WR...was the MOST important player on that team. For many reasons. We won a Super Bowl with Kevin Williams playing opposite him. And I am sure many would argue Kevin Williams and/or Kelvin Martin could not even crack the rotation in Dallas. But Irvin was so good in his prime it did not matter that EVERYONE knew the ball was coming to him.
