Default Saints Fans In NOLA Are Freaking Out - Something Nobody Is Considering

Hi All,

Saints fan here.

I have been reading your other thread about the Sean Payton situation and whether or not SP would leave NOLA and sign with the Cowboys.

Over on the Saints' boards many fans are freaking out about this. While no one wants to admit it in the back of their minds they know that this is a good move for SP.

The main arguments of why SP would stay in NOLA are 1) The bounties didn't happen and SP will take this personal upon his return, 2) He is loyal to the Saints, 3) He has Drew Brees and Drew just signed a major deal.

While all of the above is true, here is something nobody is considering or talking about.

If Sean Payton had a clause in his contract to void it if something happened to Mickey Loomis, then does Drew Brees have a clause that would void his contract if something happened to Sean Payton? No one knows the details of Drew's contract other than the money involved.

This is a nightmare scenario for the Saints and a possible best case scenario for the Cowboys.

You could end up with Sean Payton, Drew Brees AND Mickey Loomis if Jerrah finally decided he wanted to win again. The Cowboys would probably have 8 prime time games next year.

I don't think it would happen but this has been an extremely crazy year in the NFL and for the Saints.

I don't discount anything anymore.

Uh, no. If the league office wouldn't allow Payton to void his contract because the GM was fired, they sure won't allow a player to void his contract because his coach leaves.
Ivy League

Jason Garrett offense rank minus Tony Sparano: 18, 14, 7, 15, 15

Breath easy neighbor. There is no way Jerry Jones pulls up stakes on Garrett at this point. Garrett has at least 1 more year to right the ship.

This ^. No way the league would let that happen. It would set a bad precedent.

I can't imagine the NFL allowing players to have contracts that say a contract is void if such & such coach is fired.

The more I read about Payton the more I think he will stay put in NO.

The Jerry sideshow is just too much.

Why would anyone sign Mickey Loomis to be GM?

Unbelieveable............like wild fire.
AS: Cowboys ice their own kicker in 19-13 OT loss

“That is one of the luxuries of my position as owner as well as the ultimate decision maker, general manager and president – I can do that and take the losses and come back for more,” Jones said.

Too much money and too much forfeiture of control.

Jerry will never do it.

Payton is a control freak. I just see how that fits into Jerry's way of doing things.
