We can split hairs over titles, but the only thing that matters is who was the successful architect behind the assemblage of talent that won 3 Super Bowls. That was Jimmy Johnson.

but then again we always knew this.
"I could've done a $2 billion takeover (in another industry) with the capital I put in the Dallas Cowboys," he says. "I really could see (myself as) the idiot who had something real good, who blew it all to coach the Cowboys. I just knew that was going to be my legacy." Jerry Jones 9/14/2012

I really doubt that Jimmy cared what Jones called himself in the program.
Jimmy knew who was really behind the success.
We tell the team we have to move on from success" JG Oh how they have done that.
I know that when we do not have the kind of success, when we don't have expectations lived up to, the one that should get the most heat is the one that ultimately makes the decisions, period, with the Dallas Cowboys. And that's me."

and Jimmy was Head Coach - General Manager as well. 20 years of coaching experience vs zero nada in 1989 should tell you enough about who was the football guy and who was the money guy in that relationship.

The real meat of the article:
Quote:
“That is completely a bunch of crock,” Johnson said. “Jerry started putting all those titles on himself after I left. He didn’t call himself general manager and president and all that stuff when I was there. He was just the owner. Because it was in my contract that I had total responsibility for all football decisions. It was in my contract, and he didn’t allow anybody to have that in their contract after I left.”
Johnson says that he takes more pride in what he did as the Cowboys’ general manager than in what he did as the Cowboys’ head coach.
“I was the personnel director there with the Cowboys,” Johnson said. “My pride was collecting the talent and putting together the team that won the Super Bowls.”

Semantics and Deon aside, this lays waste to any assertion that Jerry contributed much of anything to the Superbowl run at the managerial level. It was contractual!
LOL at any suggestions that Wade, Garrett, Campo etc. had the same degree of influence or control of the team as Jimmy did.
/Cowboys are run the same as any other NFL team BS

Exactly. Everyone knows Jimmy built the team, not Jerry. But Jimmy's claim that Jerry didn't hold those titles when he was there is "a crock."
Jimmy also claimed that he was the "personnel director" when he was here, which is another crock. Bob Ackles was the personnel director until 1992, when he was replaced by Stephen Jones. Jimmy never held that title.
Again, Jimmy built the team, but he never held any of those titles, and he's wrong about Jerry not holding them when he was here.
