People say this but it's not really true. We've hired puppets many times not really NFL head coaches, get Payton in here asap and it will start to change things around.

Lots of HOMERS on this board. Only one thing will work now...Blow up the team; get rid of all bloated contracts and everyone on the "old" side of 30. All new coaches who can start over and evaluate talent..." None of this bunch can...that's for sure". The last key to success is for Jerry to retire to Belize and take his family with him... New GM with some football smarts would go a long way to begin again... It will take 3 years and probably 4 drafts to get a team that might be able to compete with the big boys....

Of course Jerry is pissed, we have a 2-3 record at home this year and have been trailing by double digits in FOUR of those games.

While leading, the offense has scored a TD only twice in the whole year, and both were on the first game of the season.

We lead the league in penalties. We are near the top in turnovers.

We ran a QB sneak on first and ten for crying out loud.

I think Garrett is the worst head coach in Cowboys history, period.

Well he left town, turned a perennial doormat into contenders, and won a superbowl. He'll come back into town a different person than the Sean Payton that Jerry knew before. It's called skins my friend and he has them.

Not really, name me a pro bowl player on the offensive or defensive lines? Better yet, name me a good player. Our skilled players are playoff ready but our trenches are weak. Good organizations imo should build their teams from the inside out not the other way around. The only problem with that is that #88, #28, and #24 jerseys sell better than #76 and #92 so don't think that this doesn't play in the back of JJ's mind come draft time.

Guys like Witten and Ware? Overall we are a young team.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Wrong in my opinion. Many folks wanted Parcells gone because they felt his conservative mind set on offense was holding Payton back.

But an honest question to you or anybody who backs Garrett at this point. Do you really believe he's doing a good job?

I don't. He seems to be in over his head with the HC/Playcalling duties. I will admit that I like the way he has drafted the last couple of years, and anybody that says the draft and free agency are all Jerry is wrong. You can see each HC's handprint on drafts minus maybe Chan and Campo. But back to the question what does Garrett really do take up for him for as the HC/Playcaller? I can name countless in game decisions that even this novice can realize. So what am I or we missing?

I believe the Cowboys will have at least two new offensive linemen next season.Maybe even a real safety!(wishful thinking)

What Jerry says after a game won't change my mind either way.

Like Jerry is supposed to poop on the OL he has to go to war with for six more games(when they had a 5-5 record..in the thick of the playoff hunt). Why do that? That doesn't mean he doesn't see an upgrade is needed.Didn't he do the same in secondary(unfortunately they aren't looking too good)?
I respectfully disagree. Usually with Jerry, where there is smoke, there is also a fire inside. With everyone that was either fired, cut, or put on notice, we heard responses like this. With all the talk surrounding Sean Payton, this very well may be the beginning of the end for Garrett if he continues to fail.

I know some are going to point to Jerry wanting continuity (and that is something I want as well), but at some point, you need to start looking at the results and re-evaluate to make sure the right guy is in place for that. I'm not saying that Garrett should be fired, but I feel it is necessary and wise for Jerry to at least be thinking about the direction the team is currently going under Garrett before making long term decisions that could potentially be disastrous for the franchise.

Garrett can be very stubborn at times, and putting him on the hot seat may be exactly what is needed for him to change his ways and start doing things in a manner that increases our chances of success, including better game/time management, increased focus on discipline, better scheming, and maybe most important for the time being, giving up play calling.

If Garrett can get out of his own way, I think the Cowboys will be able to get out of their way, and we can start winning more of these games.
It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

I've been on the 'firing Garrett will accomplish nothing' bandwagon for a few weeks now, but I don't think so anymore.

Sure we could get another puppet and Jerry will continue to run the franchise into the dirt, OR we could get lucky and get a Harbaugh who instantly gives this team credibility again.

What do we stand to lose?

Getting blown out by a rookie QB in the first half on national TV is about as low as it gets. It's not like we have some kind of progress to interrupt. We're only getting worse.

I cannot even fathom a person thinking that replacing Garrett with a Holmgren or Payton would "make no difference" to this team.

Normally I'd agree nut Garrett was a mistake hire from the beginning and his team is getting worse, not better. Guys make the same mistakes. If he'd clean up the mistakes and get them playing better football on an upswing then he'd get a pass for some of the poor talent here.

He consistently shows he is in over his head as a head coach and the cowboys is not a learning job. I'm all for a coach change.

And for all those saying a new coach wouldn't win with this talent. Didn't parcels come in and take Dave campos team to the playoffs his first season??
