Default The Cowboys should go for Alex Smith this offseason

My friend just told me that. He followed up with the comment that Alex Smith is easily a better qb than Romo... just seeing if theres anybody on here that agrees and would like to try to persuade me cus I still Alex Smith dreams about having the capability to play as good as Romo does

Send your friend for a random drug test.

I'd rather see Orton.

I actually think David Garrard is a better QB than Alex Smith. He's similar in many ways but has a stronger arm.

105 quarterback ratings don't grow on trees.

Especially if you're Kyle Orton or David Garrard.

Would be a good move for some team that's a real stinker and is looking to see if they can squeeze any of that 1st round potential out, but it's about the last hint we need

Garrard was second in the league in QB rating (>100) just a couple years before his injury. And he had absolutey zero WRs.
I suspect his lifetime stats are very similar or better than Smith's.

The guy has a decent Oline, a running game to back him and a shutdown hard nose defense to lean on. When you get a lead and have a D that can hold it and then some, you can run some pretty safe, high percentage plays that puts a bus driving QB like Alex Smith into statistical position of greatness in the eyes of some.

Which proves that stat is meaningless, because he's not even starting for his own team.
