That's usually what we do. Talk change in the beginning of January after another disappointing season, then talk ourselves into why continuity is the way to go for a successful season the next year.
They need to blow up this offensive line and start over. Not blame injuries to bad players as the reason why things fell apart.
This offseason has to be about fixing this at all costs. Like last offseason should have been. And if they don't, I won't spin away talking nonsense about being excited about a new paint job on this dump and how young players can improve over time. Give me a major overhaul of the OL this winter and I'll have hope for next year. Don't, and I won't. I'll consider our 2013 season to be finished before it even started. It's as simple as that.

I don't think our Oline will be that difficult to improve.
Im actually willing to give the Costa project another year because he looked pretty dang good. We should get to see some Kowalski pretty soon as well.
Doug Free has to be cut. If he is a starter next season than the offseason was a failure.
So basically a new RG and RT and I think we're good to go on the OL.

Not me.
I want the center/guard.
No offense to Costa who I agree did look pretty good, but "you can't help the club in the tub" and I don't want to be in the same terrible position next season.
Honestly, between the draft and free agency, I'd like to see at least three to four new candidates brought in.
"I don't understand it Stephen, it's opening day 2014, where is everybody?"

See im fine if they decide to go or not to go with Costa next year.
Free and the RG need to be replaced. Bernadeau can stay as a backup.
I actually like what Nate Livings can do and I hope next year that we make him our worst OL instead of arguably our best.

Last year it was the no offseason excuse and now I think this year he'll get the injuries excuse.
I really hope Jerry isn't sitting back and just waiting to drop this excuse on our fan base.

You know, I was just thinking the same thing too. I have a feeling that that will factor into the decision on some level.

This is from Jerry, today,
Quote:
He knows the league is tough but he thought they would be better than 5-6 through 11 games. Jones also didn’t blame the team's rash of injuries as the source of their problems. He blames an overall lack of consistency and put it on the players and coaches.
“I thought we'd be better than this, although I do realize the kind of competition we have in the league," Jones said on his weekly radio show on 105.3 the Fan KRLD-FM. “We got nine teams that are 5-6 or 6-5 in the NFL right now. I knew we were in a league that has a lot of competition, but I thought we would be better.”

He mentions 9 other teams, we're not those 9 other teams, we're supposed to be the standard. I think that level of expectation has been lost within the organization, and even the fan base to a point.

Who is responsible for having no depth along OL/DL? JG couldn't identify decent OL in 2 1/2 years that could be developed and step in right now?
What is the 1 excuse that everybody agrees will ruin any team season? QB injury.
we are lucky enought to dodge this one last 2 years but what if Romo gets injured next season? Will we give JG another year to prove and use it as an excuse next year?

Not really. He is saying he thinks the roster that rolled out of training camp was up for better than .500 football. It was just wishful thinking then and continues to be now and will be next year with Jerry too.

How do you adjust for a bad offensive line? Punt every down?

Yes, marquis players like Witten and Ware maybe have to be sacrificed but isn't that the price of progress? JG has kept this team competitive and talent does appear to be building. If Jerry pulls the rug out from under him now then it will another two years wasted for nothing.
I want to see what JG can do with his guys and his system before I give up on him as a coach. As much as I agree with you concerning his philosophies, I am willing to wait and see if he can deliver long term.

The problem most fans have with the defense that "the team was a mess when Garrett took over" is that he was the freaking co-piolit for that mess.
As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"
2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

Don't have one in the first place. Jason was supposed to approve every signing (I believe), so he is culpable for the O line mess as well. If indeed he had no say, then get a coach that will be powerful enough to influence personnel decisions. No doubt that the mess in the trenches trumps everything else though.

If you can do that you`d likely be employed by an NFL team.

So lets start counting the excuses for Red Ball being a sub 500 coach.
1. Its the injuries, the team would be balling without them.
2. Jerry makes him call the plays, he really doesnt want to.
3. Jerry made all the personnel decisions, especially the o-line.
4. Garrett had no say in draft picks or free agency, he just observed.
5. (MY FAVORITE) Tom Landry sucked too starting out as head coach.
