Just looking for honest answers.
If he thought that why did he trade for Caliborne like they were one player away.

The funny thing is that at the time, no one took that angle. The party line was that we cut those lazy, sorry, overpaid underachievers on our OL and now we had a bunch of hungry, scrappy, and accountable RKGs.

Only now in hindsight is it an excuse.
Ivy League

Jason Garrett offense rank minus Tony Sparano: 18, 14, 7, 15, 15

And how many teams did that and got worse players than the ones they got rid of.

Great plan!!!

I no longer care what Jerry Jones says. I have become indifferent to him and the cowboys as well. It's a shame since I have been following them since 1961. It no longer makes any difference to me whether they win or lose or just quit.

Jerry Jones has single-handedly driven me away.

Life is good anyway; there are many other things to care about closer to home. I still haunt this forum occasionally because I enjoy reading the posts of some of the members. An interesting observation about growing older is that I have lost a lot of the testosterone that got me in so many kinds of trouble earlier in life and I don't really miss it very much. Life is as good as you let it be.

And exactly how does releasing OL affect a coach's ability to manage the clock and call timeouts?
As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"

2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

This team will be in position again to fill major holes via FA and draft BPA.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

Well, the guy they thought was going to be the second coming of Tom Landry is sub 500 as head coach, so they got to start coming up with something.

I think it is pretty clear we are in year 2 of a 3 year rebuilding program under Garrett. Year 1 was to cut the fat of the team that had a lot of aging players who were progress stoppers. Year 2 was to retool the defense and to a degree I think that has been accomplished. Claiborne will be a stud in this league and Carr is a good #2 CB. Crawford will be a good player for us and Carter and Church were playing very well before injury. I think Year 3 will be a massive rebuild of the offensive line with only Smith and Livings returning as starters.
At that moment a voice came over me and said, Look up, get up, and don't ever give up. You tell everyone or anyone that has ever doubted, thought they did not measure up or wanted to quit, you tell them to look up, get up and don't ever give up. - Michael Irvin

Year 2 of rebuilding with a 32 year old QB.

Keep moving the goalposts.

Maybe rebuilding was the wrong word. Retooling seems to fit better. I think of it like this; when Denver signed Peyton Manning, they had to rebuild their team. They needed to tweak somethings, including bringing in pass catchers at the TE position, and finding RBs who can pass protect better.

I think Dallas is "retooling" with their 32 year old QB.

Every team is rebuilding every year. Football teams are fluid not static. Some are more static than other and at key places. WE are rebuilding. So are 31 other teams. It is no excuse for us. The injuries have hurt, but the miscues on the OL hurt more.

Huh?
RB - They kept McGahee and Moreno and drafted hilman
TE - they signed Dressen and Tamme, harldy Tier 1 prospects
Defense was pretty set.

They added Manning AND BROUGHT IN Stoakley and Tamme since they had been w/ manning in Indy. They are backups.

An honest answer hinges on whether or not the team is showing demonstrable improvement from one season to the next during the rebuilding process.

For instance, Jimmy took over a team in full blown rebuild mode, and saw his team win 6 more games between his first and second seasons. That's demonstrable improvement.
"Many of the greatest things man has achieved are not the result of consciously directed thought, and still less the product of a deliberately coordinated effort of many individuals, but of a process in which the individual plays a part which he can never fully understand." - Friedrich Hayek
