I understand some people's logic for it but I thought it was premature to release those guys especially without any viable options in place

Our entire oline is a mess. No one can deny that. We should have never cut Gurode just because we wanted to save some cap space. If he was the last to restructure, it just goes to show that they weren't willing to put more emphasis on the oline. Thus what you see right now is the final product.

our entire o line is a mess. Our best o line man t smith isn't a good left tackle he belongs on the right side. We are a mess all over.

Your right, I think that was some kinda group thought (happens alot here), of which I didn't agree with at all. I will say what I said then, Free is a weakness and can't be hidden on the right side cause the opposition will find him whether he is on the right or left.

Course it fell on deaf ears of the 'Free will be fine on the right side' crowd, as most thought he was going to transform into something different.

Gurode would not be much help for the Cowboys mid-season. Callahan runs a zone blocking scheme and Gurode is a power blocking guy, especially at this age. Putting him at center would be suicidal, for Romo.
