Outside of the pilot they have had around 6 and 7 million views for each episode. When you factor in the DVR viewers it's between nearly 9 and 10 million.
Either way, it's likely they will renew Nashville.

Additionally they are number one in their slot beating CSI.

Revolution eats into MNF. The fascination with the 18-49 (preferably male for FOX and NBC, neutral for CBS, ABC favors females) is due to the fact they are looser with what money they do have & are more willing to try a different brand. While it is true a retired 60 year old may have more money laying around if he has used Old Spice for the last 30 years he is not likely to try Axe, if he has driven Fords since he was 20 he won't buy a GM. A 30 year old might give it a switch. That is the logic behind 18-49.
Audience size doesn't matter to advertisers. On Monday The Voice pulled 12m viewers and a 4.2 rating, Dancing with the Stars pulled a 2.8 with 16m viewers. Advertisers pay for the demo. Harrys Law on NBC was the most popular show by viewership by about 3million viewers last season and the season prior and it did not survive since advertisers wouldn't pay for it. Total viewership means more in syndication and on cable but to the networks they mean almost nothing.
I really hope Nashville makes it and if ABC announces a second season I will watch it. Hayden is one of my favorite actresses and the plot (especially the political backstory) sounds great. Nothing I hate more than a 1 season show like The Event.
Scandal is another show on ABC that I hope people are checking out. It is safe due to it's stability (1.9-2.1 since it's debut, very little budging) and is a fast paced political drama with multiple interesting over arching storylines and every episode having it's own highly unique conflict. Think Burn Notice mixed with a dumbed down, dramatized West Wing. It's very entertaining.
