Because they are.
I mean, not to say they can't play but I doubt even a single Redskins fan would have taken Alfred morris as their starter if they could have chosen any of the backs from the NFCE prior to the beginning of the season. Nobody in their right mind would go with a 6th rounder over McCoy, Bradshaw or Murray. Not to mention Shanahan gets production from the RB no matter who it is.
They don't have a single WR who is in the Top 50 for receptions. Only have 1 who is in the Top 100.
Leading receiver has just over 400 yards.
By all measures, they don't have any sort of dominant player at the skill positions outside of the QB. They don't have that single player at WR that teams absolutely key in on.
I mean, that's pretty much the definition of pedestrian.
But, what they do have is a group of guys who have specific talents and they get the absolute most out of them. I think Aldrick Robinson is a prime example. He is a very raw WR but he has excellent straight line speed and they scheme to get him into a favorable matchup. It was embarrassing to hear Aikman rave about how Robinson was going to right by his man if he didn't get help and it literally happened a second later.
Garcon isn't a world beater but he's a reliable guy who makes the most of his opportunities. He's good WR but good WRs are everywhere.
I don't think saying they are pedestrian is an insult. If I were a Skin fan I'd be stoked that the offense kills it without a really dominant WR.
