seriously I get that it's your team and you feel the need to take it personally, but the NBA doesn't do well enough to allow this kinda move.
allowing this sends a clear message to the fans, which is they don't value the regular season product. Popovich has been inching closer to this every year and I actually think most of the similar moves he's made have been within bounds, but this one was over the line.

Its not what happened.. no one thinks its acceptable and there's been talk of how stupid it was all over the news and the sports world.
Its not my team, btw.. im a Sixers fan. I just know stupid when i hear it, and Stern is pure imbecile.
Trying to win the most regular season games possible is not saying that you don't value the regular season, my friend.. no matter how many silly ways you try to justify that.
Agree to disagree.. because this is going nowhere.

How do you think a random fan who saved up to take his son to his first Spurs game, only to find out every player his son knows was sent home feels?
Injuries are one thing, the end of the season is another and 1 guy is another thing, but 4 out of 5 guys is an insult to paying fans and I don't see how anyone can say otherwise.
And at the end of the day, it was a fine. Not a loss of draft picks, not a loss of cap space, but a fine. So why anyone would get upset is beyond me.

I would easily counter that Stern has done NOTHING but sit idly by while teams sell out wholesale to rest their entire starting bench to lose games, or throw wild rotations to lose games to improve their chances in the lottery.
It's been pretty laughable for years now, and Simmons on ESPN makes fun of it almost every season to watch teams tank on purpose.
Furthermore, Stern's heavy-handed involvement last season with the Lakers/New Orleans trade debacle reeks. Unbelievable really, and it would take a fleet of tanker trucks to transport the gall that Stern exhibits in his hypocrisy.

And I would agree. The end of the season thing is tough. If a team like the Wizards doesn't want to play Andray Blatche and Rashard Lewis, and play younger players (and then dumps both in the offseason) then it doesn't make sense to come down on them, but we all know ranking occurs.
And the CP3/draft lottery were a joke.
Again, I'm neither a Spurs hater or a Stern fan, but a line was crossed and what the Spurs did can not be allowed.

Did you feel this way the many times that Aikman and Romo sat out the last game of the year against divisional rivals?

No, but I also don't have a problem with NBA teams that rest players when nothing can be gained at the end of the year.
And before you ask, fans expect this towards the end of the season. If you live in New York and love the Lakers, you know it's shaky at best to buy tickets to an April 30th game.
During Late November/Early December, the averege fan has no reason to suspect this tactic.
