Goodell says the idea came from Bucs coach Greg Schiano

Also no rule is passed without the competition committee voting for it and approving it. Goodell can't pass any rules it is the owners who pass rules

My problem with this is that 4th and 15 is a hell of a lot easier to convert than an onside kick. They should make that longer IMO.

I've heard this plan before so it's isn't unique to Schiano. It's interesting but I would be against it.

That what I was thinking. I bet we'd see more interesting punt formations and fakes. You might see a backup quarterback on the field so the defense has to think they may pass on any punt-offf.

goofy plan.

if you want to do away with kickoffs just give the teams the ball at the 30 and be done with it.

thousands of youth leagues do this and it works just fine.

the 4th and 15 nonsense is just that. you don't make up downs.

if you remove kickoffs you remove onsides kick options. that's just part of the deal.

if they want to extend games and make late game play more interesting stop the clock after all first downs in the finals 5 minutes of a game.

Make it take it rules for NFL. I think it'd be cool.

a bunch of crap--why eliminate them? safety? then get rid of punts and get rid of tackling and blocking

So it was Greg Schiano idea, same coach that even when the other team is running out the clock he blows up the center? Yeah he is all about the safety of players.

I wouldn't mind it. Sounds like an interesting concept to me.

What are the percentages of getting a 4th and 15?

That's a bunch of bull. It's coming from dirtbag Mara. Did you guys forget this:

I am for it, specially now that most kicks sail into the endzone. What fans aren't seeing is the huge running start collisions, usually for nothing.

Mara may be interested in it as well but I don't think it is BS on Greg Schiano, he could easily stand up and say it was a load of BS he is not.

Actually, it's more difficult, and by a wide margin. Since 2000, passes on 3rd or 4th and 15 have been converted only 16.4 percent of the time (sample size of over 1,500). Non-surprise onside kicks get recovered at around a 30 percent rate.
