Alabama fan gets 2 years in prison for obscenity during BCS celebration
Low life scum...He should have been made to register as a sex offender.
Quote:
An Alabama man on Thursday began serving a two-year prison sentence for an obscene act against an unconscious LSU fan in a Bourbon Street restaurant after the BCS national title game in January, a videotaped incident that went viral on the Internet.
Orleans Parish Criminal District Judge Karen Herman chastised Brian H. Downing, of Smiths Station, Ala., before she formally sentenced him to the terms of a plea deal with New Orleans prosecutors.
Herman called him a bully who has permanently damaged someone's life.
"You have put aside someone's dignity," she said. "(He) didn't have the option to say, `No,' and tell you to stop."
[View Full Quote]The incident took place last January after Alabama defeated LSU at the Superdome to claim the BCS title. A video that went viral on the Internet showed Downing expose his genitals and perform a simulated sex act on the unconscious man at the restaurant in front of a crowd of other Alabama fans.

Ya think there might be an LSU fan in the Louisiana prison he is going to?
I doubt they "simulate" ANYTHING in prison.

Homosocial banter is hardly limited to frats. I can say that I've never participated, but...it sounds a lot worse when you say it...sometimes a friend would pass out and someone else would do something inappropriate. It happens all the time.

I guess I'm way too old-school, but I never quite grasped the concept of proving how macho and heterosexual you are, by exposing your package, especially in a sexual manner towards another male?

It's not really about proving how macho you are, I don't think. It just that balls, much like farts, are funny pretty much every time.

Doesn't look like this was a big group of friends. What friends do amongst friends is usually mutually acceptable behavior. I wouldn't do that to anyone and don't really hang out with people who would. If I were with a group of friends and someone started in on stuff like that, we'd likely call him out on it.
Anyone who falls prey to this stuff amongst a group of friends is likely the type of person who would return the favor at a later date. Not to say these people are "bad" because they aren't, but saying "type of person" kind of sounds like I am implying it in that manner and I'm not. Just saying if you are the victim of a bag drop, you're likely guilty of your own inappropriate behavior at some other point in time, albeit likely not this act itself.
What weird stuff people do amongst their friends is up to them. Have at it. I doubt tea bagging is someone's go-to move when they first start hanging out with someone so any sort of stuff like this that happens is likely just the next step in an escalating war amongst friends.
When you start taking your weird stuff and subjecting other people to it, then you're just being an *******.
I'm shocked, but happy, that this guy gets punished for it. He deserves it.

Just to be clear, I don't disagree with anything you said. I understand that you don't just whip our your junk in public.
Just two years for something, that while insulting was probably largely innocent, seems a lot. Granted, I wasn't there so who knows.
