Respectfully, in my position if my "boss" asked :me to do something I didn't agree with, I would likely unload on him/her. And there would be no repercussions

That wasn't really the question though.. whether you unload on him or not, and i have no idea what business you are in that would consider that acceptable or professional, how would it be considered provoking you that your superior has a conversation with you about your performance or production?

It would be considered immensely unprofessional for my "boss" to criticize my performance or productivity - particularly when experts in that area had vetted my decisions. Pretty much just like a situation where the trainers and coaching staff had determined Ratliff was out but Jerry questioned whether he should be out.

Of course, you're but assuming that Jerry hadn't first talked with the trainers and medical staff about Ratliff's injury or condition..
..and its not his "boss".. its his boss.

Yes, I'm sure that that trainers and HC said that Rat was ready to go. What a totally ridiculous assumption. Particularly given that it was SUNDAY after a game. You'd think that if he was cleared to play that it would have happened that night or something.
Also, I note "boss" because Jerry Jones is not Jay Ratliff's boss. Whatever your agenda, Ratliff answers to Jason Garrett.

Not everything is as black and white as you would have it be.
Im sure they didn't say he's 100 percent ready to go, but you don't think its plausible that Jerry spoke with the training/medical staff and they said its a possibility that he could play with whatever injury he has right now?
Im sure if they let Romo play with broken ribs and a punctured lung and let Jason Witten go out there with a ruptured spleen.. whatever is ailing Ratliff isn't quite as serious as something that could potentially be life threatening.
Also, i note boss.. because my definition of boss is any superior, whether they be directly above you or 5 rungs up the ladder. Define it to your liking, though.. its mostly semantics.

CINCINNATI (105.3 THE FAN/CBSDFW.COM) – Due to groin, ankle and foot problems, former Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff hasn’t played for the Dallas Cowboys since Nov. 18 vs. Cleveland. He missed his seventh game of the year when the Cowboys kicked off Sunday at Cincinnati.
But he was “active’’ in a sense last Sunday after Dallas beat the Eagles, Ratliff engaging in what sources call a “volcanic’’ and jaw-to-jaw exchange with none other than Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. “They’re both passionate men and great men and they want to win, that’s all it is,’’ one source said. “But they were in each other’s faces. People had to intervene.’’
[View Full Quote]In six games, Ratliff has 25 tackles and 10 quarterback pressures and no sacks. Jones habitually approaches players in the postgame locker room to either congratulate or console. In the case of Ratliff – who a year ago signed a five-year, $40-million extension but arguably hasn’t played at that level since – Jones started the conversation by saying, “We need you.’’
Ratliff’s response was a heated one. Jones, 70, did not back down even as the 6-4, 303-pound player rose to physically challenge him and then made derisive mention of Jones’ age.
Ratliff was a rather brooding presence this week at the team’s Valley Ranch headquarters as he spend another week not practicing. His long-term future with the club is unclear. Given the tragic circumstances that have Ratliff’s replacement, Josh Brent, in jail on intoxicated/manslaughter charges, the Cowboys could use the help of a healthy Pro Bowl-caliber player – to angrily confront opponents, however, and not his own owner.

made derisive mention of Jones’ age.................
Sorry, but this is way over the line. You dont call out your boss and make fun of his age in front of the team, you just dont do that.
Besides, it is not like Jerry told him he was milking the injury, he just said that the team really needs him. I am with Jerry on this one, I send Rat packing at the end of the year.
Besides, it is not big loss, the dude is freaking caper on game days and apparenty cant play with a broken nail. Romo plays with a collasped lung and Witten plays with a lacerated spleen but Rat cant go for 7 freaking games?
Good riddance.
As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"
2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

I dont know where you guys work, but I have seen employees confront the boss several times at my past jobs and lets just say it ususally did not end well for the employees.
For you guys that say it is no big deal, the next time your boss says "we really need you to do this report by Monday", go get up in his face and make fun of his age.
Then come back here and report to all of us what happenned next.

What? Jerry is the General Manager. He's every ones boss.
We tell the team we have to move on from success" JG Oh how they have done that.
I know that when we do not have the kind of success, when we don't have expectations lived up to, the one that should get the most heat is the one that ultimately makes the decisions, period, with the Dallas Cowboys. And that's me."

Its hard to get fired in the army and not everyone is legal beagle. Ive seen this in professional business too where people understand the situation and show grace to the employee. Not sure of what was truely said or quoted but people express themselves differently and defensive lineman can have a temper.

I'm tired of Jerry's meddlesome ways but Ratliff was wrong on this one.
In fact I question his toughness and dedication to the game.
