Ex-Cowboy Lockhart sentenced to 4 1/2 years in jail
Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Eugene Lockhart Jr. has been sentenced to 4 1/2 years in federal prison for his role in a mortgage fraud scheme to swindle millions of dollars from home lenders.
Lockhart was sentenced Wednesday in Dallas after pleading guilty last year to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Lockhart and others indicted were accused of using fraudulent loan paperwork to deceive mortgage lenders in buying dozens of homes in the Dallas area. Prosecutors say some of Lockhart's co-defendants recruited potential home buyers with bonuses and promises of help with mortgage payments.
Lockhart formed several companies with names that referenced his career with the Cowboys, including "America's Team Brokers" and "Cowboys Mortgage."
Lockhart was drafted by the Cowboys in 1984 and played seven seasons for the team.

Was talking to a criminal defense attorney in my office yesterday who does a couple manslaughter cases here in CA per year. He said his best guess would be that Brent would be looking at 4-16 months inside if he got jail time. And that it could be less in Texas since California takes a relatively hard line on that sort of thing. If that's right, it's less than I'd have thought.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Ain't that the truth.
"I just kind of stopped in the middle of a route, which is the worst thing you can do," Ogletree said. "He just told me, 'What were you thinking?' I kind of mumbled something to him and he was like, 'You're stupid.' "

i would guess that quite a large % of americans age 21 and older have driven drunk at some point. An accident causing a death could easily have happened to anyone of them.
In the case of fraud there is a wrongful intent from the start. In the case of an accident driving drunk the intent to harm is not necessarily there, though the potential for harm should be recognized.

Lockhart was, is and probably always will be a scumbag!
He used his name and status as an ex-Cowboy to prey on, defraud and make those that had the least, yet most to lose, his #1 targets.
He and his co-conspirators were the 3-piece-suit wearing equivalent of the dime-bag crack dealer, standing outside the Check 'n Go and Payday Loan Stores, targeting his own!
I genuinely hope he serves every hour.
