Short is not a NT in a 3-4. Have you seen him play, if anything in a 34 he would be a pass rushing DE. Plays to high and doesn't hold blocks. Much more if a gap shooting 43 DT.

Last time I checked we have zero pass rushing 3-4 DE's.

Gotta say I think both of your first 2 picks would be reaches. And sc8 is right, short isn't a NT. In the NFL, if he's successfull, I see him doing so at less than the 320 he's listed at.
Holmes is only ok. As nauseating as it sounds, I'd go with Costa/Cook in 2013 and draft a guard in round 2 over taking Holmes in round 2 (would consider him later (rated as a mid third rounder by CBS).
RB I could do without. I'd rather get a vet in free agency or if he's cheap enough, I'd re-sign felix over drafting one in round 3.
Hunt is a guy a lot of people like. I'd be willing to take a flier in round 4.
And I would be slightly disappointed if we took Williams in round 5. Blocking TEs usually go very low or undrafted. I'd rather sign a cheap one in free agency.

Hatcher. He isn't a great pass rushing DE, but he's good at it. unfortunately that's it.

Agreed, but I think OL and NG are higher up on the need list. If that dude is there and is far and away better then the next best guy, we should take him though.

I don't hate the Short pick as much as most. He's definitely an end, but he's got some very impressive athleticism for a man of his size. Would be a welcomed addition to the defense.
Do hate the Holmes pick though. I honestly don't think he would beat out Costa in camp next year for the starting C job.
Would absolutely love Taylor and Hunt is my pet cat of this draft so obviously a great pick in my book.

I have been very limited with my ability to research these players lately, but let me throw my mock in there.
1. T. Lewan, OT.
2. C. Lemonier, OLB.
3. Will Sutton, DT.
4. K. Holmes, C.
5. S. Ware, RB.
In this situation, we have released Free, re-signed Spencer, and have added a veteran guard, and a safety in free agency. Ware is getting up in age, so we need depth at OLB. Will Sutton is undersized, but could be a real steal in the third as a rush end. Lewan is Free's replacement. I don't love Holmes, but maybe there's something there to develop. In the two games I watched, I liked Spencer Ware.

This would be a pretty bad draft tbh.. Top 2 picks are reaches, and Short is not a NT. Hopefully we trade back in the first and pick up another 2nd, and then go O-Line with the first pick and O-Line and NT in the 2nd. Then more D-Line, S and RB with the remaining picks.

Have to LOL those that think Costa is better then Holmes. Or even close. Now I think costa is STRONGER then Holmes but that is the only area. Holmes is quick and precise and moves very well. Costa does none of those

But you have him as a NT. I wouldn't mind him as a DE.

I'd have no problem taking Holmes round 3 or after. I see him by the end of 2013 being better than the trash they currently have at C.

Since we switched to 3-4 we have targeted exactly one 2 gap run stuffing NT, and that was a 6th round dude out of Louisville. We have looked at guys who are more athletic, and that have position and scheme versatility.
G, etc higher priorities? Yes, hence we don't have JJ Watt lined up next to Ware.
If Ratt/Lissemore can play 3-4 NT, I think Short could adapt too. Then you would have 3 or 4+ DL that can get after the QB....Hatch, Short, Lissemore....Rat, Crawfish.
Holmes a reach in the 50's?
Come on man!

Most early reports are that Khaled Holmes is a third-round prospect at best.
