What evidence would be acceptable in this case?

So no...his apology isnt enough.

Losing his job isn't a part of his apology. That would be something his employer decides.
You also said he should go prove himself? How? How does someone prove themselves to be sorry over an idea?
He called Robert Griffin III to apologize to him directly?
So what do you suggest he should do to show himself truly sorry?

We live in a PC world. And that you just have to watch what you say. As it is about watching what you say and thinking about it. Before you say it without thinking. Unfortunately Parker is paying a huge price over that. And may even pay much more!
Happy Mother's Day!

And no I don't care 'well if a white guy said this' angle. A white person shouldn't even be going where Parker went in the first place. And if he did he's way out of element. I probably have a different opinion than everyone else and I don't really care this is how I feel about watching the video.

In barbershops around my area, they say you're a cornball forum troll. see what I can do as well?

When you hear Bob Costas say something or Rob Parker...you have to look at the culture of the organization.
A sports mediot isn't going to say something controversial if he believes it is counter to the culture of his organization...if he believes it might harm his career.
These guys are saying these things because they know they'll get applauded for it with their bosses.

I'm black and I think he needs to be fired. So what if RG3 has a white girlfriend? What business is it of Rob Parker's, or anybody else for that matter, who someone chooses to date or marry? People like him really irritate me.

"I blew it and I’m sincerely sorry. I completely understand how the issue of race in sports is a sensitive one and needs to be handled with great care. This past Thursday I failed to do that. I believe the intended topic is a worthy one. Robert’s thoughts about being an African-American quarterback and the impact of his phenomenal success have been discussed in other media outlets, as well as among sports fans, particularly those in the African-American community.
|
And what "worthy" topic is that? The fact that he is a successful athlete in the NFL, or the topic that he has a white girlfriend? I hear plenty people talking about RG3 as an athlete, but the only person I hear talking about his white girlfriend is Rob Parker. I guess he didn't get the memo that most people don't care about that racial topic anymore.

The failure was in how I chose to discuss it on First Take, and in doing so, turned a productive conversation into a negative one. I regrettably introduced some points that I never should have and I completely understand the strong response to them, including ESPN’s reaction. Perhaps most importantly, the attention my words have brought to one of the best and brightest stars in all of sports is an unintended and troubling result. Robert Griffin III is a talented athlete who not only can do great things on the field, but off the field handles himself in a way we are all taught – with dignity, respect and pride. I’ve contacted his agent with hopes of apologizing to Robert directly. As I reflect on this and move forward, I will take the time to consider how I can continue to tackle difficult, important topics in a much more thoughtful manner."
|
What is this, the 1950's? I guess he can't let the topic go because of what generation he grew up in. But really dude, nobody cares about what race someone is dating anymore. There are plenty racial mixing going on right now especially in younger generations that didn't grow up in a hate-inspired world, yet it's people like Rob Parker that continue to push the agenda as if everyone needs to stick to their own race and remain prejudice of anyone not your own color. This guy really needs to get with the times.
