Default NBA 2012-2013 Thread

I checked and couldn't see a thread about general NBA discussion.

Knicks crushed Miami on the road last night without Melo and Amare.

Our defense is stingy at times. I am seeing good things in the future.

What do you guys think about Knicks?

The Knicks defense was better without Melo? Imagine that

I agree

Not sure if we can have the same defensive intensity once Melo and Amare plays together. They are elite scorers but on the other hand they are defensive liability.

C'mon, NY has been one of the better defensive teams all season. Right now they are allowing 94.7 ppg and opponents are shooting .447 from the field.

Last night the heat scored 92 pts and shot .421 from the field. Pretty much in line with the season avereges.

The Knicks are really playing like a team and with great defense. And Carmelo has emerged as their superstar leader. I'm not concerned with their defense or team chemistry dropping off when Carmelo comes back, because it's been there all season with Carmelo in the lineup. On the other hand, I really don't know what to expect when Amare comes back. To be honest, the Knicks would be best off to have him come off the bench as some PF/C (maybe even SF) depth and to add some bench scoring kinda like Harden was (and Kev Mart is) for the Thunder. The Knicks have to recognize that Amare is not a superstar (or even a star) anymore and use him to help the team, not allow him to hurt the team. I'm not even a Knicks fan; I just find what's going on in NY very interesting.

Big game for us tonight.

Hosting Lakers at the Garden.

Lakers will be without Nash and Gasol so a win won't mean a lot but still a win is a win. I hope D'antoni receives a warm welcome. I hear that people are planning on booing him. I hope it doesn't happen.

Nets fired Avery Johnson. I expect them to go after Phil Jackson. We shall see.

No way Phil coaches Brooklyn. Outside of deron Williams they have nothing except over paid role players

Being from New York metro area, I follow Nets news closely. The new owner says if h doesn't bring a championship in 3 years, he will punish himself by marrying. He is a win now guy. Tons of money. If he convinces Jackson, i expect him to go after big free agents this summer.

First thing, you can have all the money you want, but if there Ian't room under the cap it makes no difference. The nets have deron Williams, brook Lopez and Joe Johnson signed to max deals, not to mention Gerald walace, so this team isn't changing much.

Second, elite players win nba championships, and deron Williams is an elite pg, and not an elite player. Only way at around this is to have multiple all stars (3 or more) and Phil Jackson knows this. He was interested in LA cause he knew he could win there. Brooklyn at best is an easy second round out and no amount if cash will convince Phil to go there and waste his time.

Deron Williams is a coach killer. Good for you buddy should have stayed home. Nets suck.We suck too but its a nice consolation prize lol At least we won a ring 2 seasons ago.

Difference is the Nets have always sucked. They thought they could come in with money and remake the team but it is still trash, just expensive trash. Sad to see they are yet another team that listens to players instead of coaches.

As much as I like the Knicks, I know 2 things. One, they won't beat Miami in a 7 game series. Probably not Chicago either if Derrick Rose can regain some of his former form; and Two, the free agency approach rarely works. NY was lucky to put together the team they did, but championship teams are built through the draft because elite players like Lebron James and Kevin Garnett rarely hit the open market.

And for the nets to make it to the next level, they would need one more elite player.

Nets set Phil Jackson as top priority.

We shall see what happens.
