This Is What They Need To Do
Change the offense so Romo does not have to carry the load. This means build an offense that features Murray and a line that can blast holes in cement.
Go back to when Romo was throwing out of the play action versus Romo having to throw fifty times a game to keep up.
Add to that a dominate defense that can keep the team in the game and not surrender the lead every series.
Put Romo in a bus driver position. Take away the crossing routes as much as possible since his accuracy is not so much on those.
Incorporate Hannah into the TE game with Witten and force defenses to guard the seams and edges of the field.
Find a scat back receiver that can come out of the slot. Maybe this is Austin.
But get a deep threat that can show up every game and not be injured. And that is not Austin.
Dez is a possession receiver that has a break away ability. What the team needed last night was a receiver that could force Hall out of his comfort zone and stretch the defense.
And a head coach that understands how to adjust to what the DC of the other team is doing.
In otherwords change the offense from what Garrett is running to something that plays to Romo's strengths while beefing up the offensive line and running the ball more to set up play action.
The problem is this offense is not designed to play to the strengths of Romo and puts him in a position to force his play.
This is where he makes mistakes. Take that out of his hands as much as possible.

All good points but based on a choke artist QB running the offense still. History has proven this to be a failing strategy. Romo sadly is worthless in the vital clutch moments. Sucks for us
Dear "football idiot" & master enabler (jerruh), you wasted yet another Cowboy's season. It is urgent for you to STEP DOWN AS GM and STICK TO MARKETING. Agenda... a long over due 6th Lombardi Trophy.

A mobile QB, a top-notch TE, a tall strong possession receiver, and 2 RBs who are excellent pass receivers. A creative OC could turn that combination into a formidable West Coast-type offense that stretches a field horizontally, helps a weak O-line with quick 3-step drops and utilizes the talents of his personnel in the best way possible. Oh and maybe learns what a screen pass is.
The Cowboys don't have that.

Wow, amazing, you nailed the whole thing. Bingo. Well done. But were gonig to need another good back to go behind Murray for when he goes down.

I've said all year that Garrett doesn't coach to our strengths and his fan boys deny it and say its lack of execution.
It's hard to execute a crap offense. Romo choked last night but its amazing what he does on a team that doesn't give him his best chance for success.

Not one mention of dline???
Spears, Coleman, Ratliff are all done. Brent will be in jail.
Unless you want to see the Skins roll up 200yds rushing the ball twice a year, I suggest that is priority #1 not the offense that was scoring at a nice clip once Murray came back.

Ed Lacey would be good in the 3rd-4th. If Lattimore can bounce back from some serious injuries the way Adrian Peterson seems to have done, I would pencil him in as our 6th pick, if still available.

Best thread in the past 12 hours.
Romo is so used to doing it all he can't reign himself in. So the coach/offensive scheme needs to do it for him. Then draft a young guy to compete in 2014.

Yep.
Romo has to be the entire offense, and he's so talented that a lot of the time he can actually do it. On the occasion he can't, people blame him for our lack of Superbowl runs.
It's total madness. Romo shouldn't have to be unconscious every time for us to win.
Ivy League
Jason Garrett offense rank minus Tony Sparano: 18, 14, 7, 15, 15

1) get Norv as OC
2) let romo play at least into mid year (dont resign long term before start of year)
3) franchise spencer (dont sign long term)
4) spend FA and draft on OL, DL, OLB, safety, back up RB

Yes. Exactly. Far too long have we needed Romo to be great every week to be competitive..
And even Romo is off, we aren't. No one picks up the slack.

Whether we like it or not, Romo will never be turned into a bus driver. We can rebuild the OLine all we want but you're not gonna pay Romo all that money to be Alex Smith.
