Probably won't get much for either of them. And if you trade them, you take the whole cap hit in one year. Can't spread it out over two like you can with June 1 cuts.
There's always more to the story.

That was my own personal feeling on him to be honest.
And not to describe him as some bum for sure, but he doesn't seem to be one of those guys you really count on. More Alvin Harper than Michael Irvin. Seems all too happy now to run second banana to Dez Bryant as long as the money is coming in.
You're going to have to poney up the money for Bryant anyway, may as well take it from what Austin is making, unless the cap money doesn't add up.

Don't we still have another 10 million cap penalty from Mara getting his panties in a wad?

I don't get that from Austin. He didn't go all out and start buying things after he got paid.
he's just been injury prone, been that way since the beginning.

Hatcher will be 31 next year. If he is willing to resign for a hometown discount on a reasonable contract the Cowboys should sign him, but it shouldn't be more than 3 year deal with minimal guaranteed money.

wow. thats not good.
I like ideas about the breaking away or overthrowing of established order. I am interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos -- especially activity that seems to have no meaning. It seems to me to be the road toward freedom -- external revolt is a way to bring about internal freedom. Rather than starting inside, I start outside -- reach the mental through the physical. - Jim Morrison

Jason Hatcher signed a 3 year, $6M free agent contract prior to the 2011 season once the Lockout was over.
2013 is the final year of the deal.

From 7th rounder off the scrap heap, to MULTI millionair to malcontent: the fall has been sharp, swift and pitiful. Thanks for nothing "JRAT" ..................btw.........ple ase STOP with the trade talk: no one wants this loser and is laughable contract that Al Davis Jr. gave him....Free, JRat and Smiles Austin and their agents all hoodwinked Al JR.-three worst deals in pro football

Should we look to this as some sort of clue? I mean, who else here saw Ratliff at a malcontent a year ago and before? Really? I actually remember an interview where he seemed visibly upset that they'd been losing games.
Something just doesn't feel right. Not that he can stay around acting this way and not that he had been earning his money, but it just doesn't feel right to me. Ratliff was always a force and player for us and didn't have this kind of problem with the team.
It's almost like he finally got fed up with JJ's crap and said you know what, I want off of this team that has an invasive owner and keeps coming up short.
I'm not excusing his actions. If you get in the owner's face, you're cut in my mind, but I'm just looking deeper in to this.

Guaranteed another team would be more than willing to take that contract on.

Austin is a #3 WR at best, not a #1 or #2. I'll take him back only if he happily agrees to play #3. Otherwise I tell his agent to look for a deal that restructures his deal in a re-sign and trade; otherwise he stays as the #3 or rides the pine.

Trent Dilfer: "Tony [Romo] has greatness in him. I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”
