At least the reasons for not resigning him have all shifted from him not being good enough to him being 29 years old or him (now) being too expensive after his fantastic season.

Progress marches slowly. I mean, it should march quickly, but it marches slowly in this case for some reason.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Personally I think he'd be better off as a LDE in a 4-3 scheme, where he can use his speed to get to the QB and don't worry too much against the run. However, as an OLB playing opposite of Ware, he's not close to " Carl Banks " status ( my personal bench mark when it comes to an OLB playing oppossite superstar OLB in a 3-4 ). He breaks containment too much and he's not particularly instinctive against the run. Not his fault since he's a natural pass rushing 4-3 DE. He should just go to a system that's better suited for his strengths..
Uhhh what

I totally agree with Hoofbite - franchise him and look to trade him. His value will never be higher than it is right now.

He was this defenses best player this season; bring the man back of course, but make it a smart deal.

He finally tried in a contract year, no way you can trust him.

Good luck with that. We should have signed him last season, after it was obvious that he was a player we wanted to keep going forward. We didn't, and now it's going to cost us. We'll get a deal done, though, or at least not lose him.

I'm sure they'll come to an agreement eventually... Anyone who thinks he's not worth it should revisit the games he didn't play. The guy was playing with one good wheel for most of the game against Washington the other night and still made the critical play the give that sorry offense another chance which Romo blew yet again.

No they franchised him because they were unsure about the guy.

Are we talking about Spencer being the Def MVP on the team if Lee & Carter stayed healthy all season? Probably not. The guy had a great year but I would rather extend Lee & Carter over an aging Spencer. With the Salary Cap we can't have everyone and there is a much bigger need on both Oline and Dline than our LB corps
