100% agree. Murray has "potential", but that doesn't mean a thing if he's not on the field.

If you think teams like Washington, Minn, Sea, SF, Hou and Balt are built to get into passing wars then you have not been watching them. They need their running game it matter to them.
So you can take you stats and play with them all day long but it does not change the fact games are played on a football field not some piece of paper.
Hell last week Redskins did not even throw the ball very much put up 100 yards of passing it was the running attack that killed us it is the same running attack Shanhan used in Denver to win 2 SB convince him that his running game does not help him win games. Of course passing game matters a lot, hell they changed the rules to make it easier while no rules have been changed to help the RB yet teams will still lean on a rushing attack. Ponder sure as hell is not going to win many games by getting into passing wars but you put Peterson behind him now he has a chance to win.

That's a lot like passer rating differential, which does include TD.

With the exception of Minnesota, those teams win because they pass the ball better than their opponents. Or, if you like, they force their opponents to pass the ball worse than they do.

Incorrect. Washington won because it did not kill itself in the passing game like Dallas did. Or, if you prefer, Washington won because its defense destroyed Dallas' passing game while Dallas was unable to similarly impact Washington's. As I've already explained in this thread, Dallas wins that game if you change nothing else except the turnovers, which would have given Dallas a better passing attack on the day than Washington. That would be even with Washington's overwhelming edge in the running game.

They pass effeciently they are not big time passing teams hell Washington ranks 30th in passing attemps why because the run the damn ball. Morris is not picking up these 100 yard rushing days breaking the skins rushing record by watching RGIII throwing the ball they run the ball plain and simple
Meantime Sea is ranked 32 in passing attempts, SF is ranked 31 in passing attempts why because they run the ball.
As for Dallas wins that game IF there are a lot fricken IF's bottom line these teams run the ball they do it very well they keep themselfs in down and distance that allows them the option of run or pass unlike Dallas who finds themselfs in long situations where the defense damn well knows they have to throw it. It is not that hard to understand evidently you don't get it chances are never will

Does Washington win if you change nothing else except the two teams' rushing performances?

If this were true, then, there should be a correlation between doing it well and winning games. The fact that there isn't means either that 1. it's not likely to increase your chances of winning or 2. the data hasn't been 'unpacked' sufficiently to isolate the parts of the running game where being more effective really matters.

I'd never dispute that part. There's definitely obviously a place for running plays in an NFL offense.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Chances are you will not throw many ints if you don't throw the ball that much to begin with.

Why do teams like Sea, SF, Washing, Minn or Houston run the ball? because they can and they do it very well and yes it helps them win balls games. If you took those QB and took their run away from them forced them to play the role of Rodgers they are not winning a lot of games.
Again down and distance matter if you can control that with the running game it keep defense off balance they can't just sell out on the passing game. Morris getting the touches he gets in Washington matters and it helps them win games, same with Foster in houston or Lynch in Sea these are key players on their teams.

That's actually exactly right.

I'm assuming both QB keep their passer ratings of 55.9 and 66.9, so while Romo wouldn't have had as many INT, he wouldn't have had as many TD either.

How did Washington pass on the plays you are changing from runs? Did Dallas eliminate interceptions on passing plays converted to runs?
