ESPND: Mike Jenkins could be done with Cowboys

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com
IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys have 16 unrestricted free agents and one of them is a former first-round pick, cornerback Mike Jenkins.
It seems the Cowboys were never quite happy with Jenkins the entire offseason. He didn't rehab his surgically repaired shoulder in Dallas, instead doing it in Florida. Jenkins didn't attend the voluntary workouts, although he was there for the mandatory sessions.
It appears Jenkins will not return in 2013, leaving the Cowboys looking for a fourth corner in free agency or the draft.
"Do I want to come back?" Jenkins asked. "I've grown attached, I've been here for five years, I've grown attached to everybody here. It's hard to just get up and leave and not want to come back. At the same time ,you want to go somewhere and have a fair opportunity and I guess go on from there."

I predict he goes home to Florida and plays for one of those 3 teams.

How was he a poor draft pick? He started from day one, with only one year of truly bad play.

I know he was coming off an injury, but he did have his chances to make a mark on this season, and he didn't. At all.

He played reasonably well considering his shoulder problem. That's a huge issue I doubt many here really understand well. I wish him well and I hope he considers staying at the right price. I think he will get an offer he can't refuse so I hope we can replace him.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

You had a fair opportunity here Mike...

Don't know about that, but Nnamdi would be a decent bet to come here if he's released. He'll be a lot cheaper at this point, a good fit for our scheme, and he's got familiarity with the DC and something to prove in the NFCE.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Good ponts. What's unclear to me is the status of his shoulder at this point. I'm hoping he stays, but as noted, at the right price.

Exactly, if he didn't take a monumental slide after making it to the pro bowl he might have gotten the big money that would've prevented us from signing Carr. But of course, as in the case of most me first athletes, it is the teams fault.

Two first round picks. Five years later, nothing to show for it.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.
