It's literally beyond comprehension.

Risen Star needs to stop trying to hide between the "his title was just Offensive Coordinator, what else was he supposed to do?!" argument. He's a very smart guy with very good takes on most things, but that is just a weak, weak argument. The role Garrett had here can absolutely not be compared to any other offensive coordinator job around the NFL.

Garrett's other title was ASSISTANT HEAD COACH and we all know that he was hired to be the future head coach. That's why he was brought in with his brother as Director of Scouting. The goal was that they would assemble the talent under Wade and then have it all ready to be firing on all cylinders when Red finally took over.

This is a player issue. To blame the OC for 4 years and head coach for the last 2 is foolish.
Jason Garrett could have toned down Air Coryell knowing the state of the O-line. Instead he turned it up Martz Style..abandoning the run even with Murray healthy and running deep routes the line can't block, especially against the blitz.

He could have used a short passing version with a heavier run and more Tony Romo plays outside the pocket to counter the blitz.

Jason never adjusted his offense to the personnel or state of the O-Line and therfore failed. Jason will not be calling plays next year. He's a great guy who belongs in the front office.

There is an old saying that goes, "the man with the gold makes the rules".
As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"

2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

And that statement was carefully worded. It does not say he will pick the players. It merely says we won't force a player on him.

The only thing I'm faithful to is the truth. I won't rip somebody unless it's called for IMO. When the subject is the current state of the OL, Garrett is way down my list of people to blame.
This is so unbelievable. Why do we have people in this forum keep blaming everything on the Oline for the entire debacle of our offense? Did they force Romo to throw INTs or were they responsible for adjusting on their own blitz pickups?

Some people here amaze me. It seems that they will say any excuse just to protect the real culprit to our offense - thats Garrett. If we keep protecting him he will never be a good coach. I doubt that he ever will since he got everything handed to him on a silver platter anyways.

Logic doesn't apply when it comes to Garrett. He is supposed to be immuned from such criticism.

He makes the rules. That doesn't mean he's right. A quick glance at his track record tells anyone he's made a living being wrong.

So to use what Jerry does as proof of what's the right thing to do reeks of desperation. You couldn't possibly find a worse decision maker in the NFL.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

Because all that is wrong with our offense resides among the 4 stiffs we start along the OL.

Not very hard to understand really. Most OC would have some level of input on draft selection. Are you saying Garrett had no input ? I would hope Jerry chose a HC who had some input on drafts, but you say he didn't. Hard Knocks would disagree with you. There is tape of Jerry asking Garrett questions about who to select.......Garrett answered poorly.

I can not see how anybody who has a least the slightest bit of football knowledge, doesn't hold Jason Garrett responsible for our offensive issues.
"Maybe next year!!" We have been saying this phrase WAYYYYY too long!!!!!!!!!!

I'm saying no offensive coordinator on the planet has significant input into personnel decisions. That doesn't come with the job. His job requires him to coach the talent, not pick the talent. That doesn't mean he hasn't been a voice in the room, but not a significant voice in the room. He had no power to make draft picks.

Now as head coach he has significantly more input and he's said that. But his work as HC of two years didn't create the complete mess we have along the OL. He's less to blame for that than the two head coaches before him and certainly the two frauds who head our personnel department the entire time.

I think this might be the 5th or 6th time you've had to say this. Headache yet?

It's the typical blame the head coach for all that is wrong with the team we've seen here for two decades.

I try to keep in mind I'm talking to the same people who would have drove Sean Payton to the airport when he left. Now he's their savior.

I wasn't here for that but it doesn't shock me at all.

This is the part I dont get. How do you know he is a great guy? What has he done to make you believe he belongs anywhere involved in football let alone a great front office guy? Everything he has done in regards to football has been below standard. OC=bad, head coach=bad, QB=Bad.

Where do you guys come up with this kind of analysis? Do you know how many hundreds of thousand of people went to princeton? Would all of them make great front office people or head coaches in the NFL?

How many ivy leaguers are actually in the NFL? With his education could he NOT go out and get a job using his education? Garrett is a poser. Its pretty obvious. He is trying to be something he definitely is not. He has no business coaching football.

This is silly. Jerry is a self made man who became a billionaire from oil to football and his team has 3 SBs. Even if we take the last sixteen years of one playoff win, it's not like he's been a terrible GM for all of them. It was from 96 to 2003 until he hired Parcells which were his worst years.
Is there any reward for good other than good?
