Like it or not, there are factors other than wins and losses that factor into building an NFL program. Sure, we all wanted and expected to see more victories this year, but there's variation from season to season in this league for every team. Even good ones don't overcome every issue, every season. And that's not 'making excuses.' It's just understanding how the league works.

You 'like it', I'll take 'not'.

You lower your standards and spin 8-8 as 'improvement', but don't try to drag me down with you.

NFL seasons, and coaches, are mesaured by wins and losses. Not in 'trying real hard' or in 'effort'. You either win or you don't.

Moral victories are for losers, or people making excuses.

8-8 to 8-8 is not improvement, not by a longshot.

Desparation by this fanbase has reached new lows.

The progress from 8-8 to another 8-8 season is staggering. The same dumb penalties and same sloppy play is progress. Jerry having the fanbase believe this is progress.

You're right.

And the stats support the similar nature between the two teams.

The one stat that continues to stick out in my mind is the 70 "starter-games" lost by the team this year as opposed to the very few games lost last year.

To end up at 8-8 despite all those injuries (and the entire Brent episode) gives the 2012 team a boost in my eyes.

I agree Stash. More wins is improvement. Moral victories are not worth much.

I couldn't agree more! Did you see my earlier post of the Cowboys record against playoff teams etc? We're 4-15 against teams that are 8-8 or better and 12-1 against teams that are below .500. Don't really see much improvement!
