Bizarro-land.

This is one of the most ridiculous pieces of absolute nonsense I have ever read. Congratulations.

Like it or not, there are factors other than wins and losses that factor into building an NFL program. Sure, we all wanted and expected to see more victories this year, but there's variation from season to season in this league for every team. Even good ones don't overcome every issue, every season. And that's not 'making excuses.' It's just understanding how the league works.
You 'like it', I'll take 'not'.

You lower your standards and spin 8-8 as 'improvement', but don't try to drag me down with you.

NFL seasons, and coaches, are mesaured by wins and losses. Not in 'trying real hard' or in 'effort'. You either win or you don't.

Moral victories are for losers, or people making excuses.

8-8 to 8-8 is not improvement, not by a longshot.

Desparation by this fanbase has reached new lows.

It may be weak, but it's pretty much the entire basis for the "improvement" argument being made in this thread. The record isn't any better than last year's. The stats are very similar between the two seasons.

Don't think I want to continue a debate if this is the tone we're ending up with. We'll pick it up at some point in the offseason, I'm sure.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

When Garrett was named the HC the WHOLE world (media, fans, analysts, etc) said Cowboys are in "REBUILDING" mode...I would be OK with 1-15 record if I saw the progress I've seen these past two years... I won't mention what progress...just go read the article again and if you don't recognize it (or don't WANT to recognize it) then realize that the problem is YOU....stop hating

The progress from 8-8 to another 8-8 season is staggering. The same dumb penalties and same sloppy play is progress. Jerry having the fanbase believe this is progress.

You're right.

And the stats support the similar nature between the two teams.

The one stat that continues to stick out in my mind is the 70 "starter-games" lost by the team this year as opposed to the very few games lost last year.

To end up at 8-8 despite all those injuries (and the entire Brent episode) gives the 2012 team a boost in my eyes.

Fair enough.

I just hope you bring better material the next time.

Ya know, the line that only needs another ham and egger like Nate Livings to start seeing some good things from it.

Now somebody open the safe. I want to marvel at our cornerbacks again.
You two should just get a room. Quit fighting it.

It's a plan. I'll bring my good material, you bring a better attitude. It'll be much better for everybody.

I agree Stash. More wins is improvement. Moral victories are not worth much.

I apologize if you feel my attitude is bad. It's unintentional. I have great respect for you and enjoy our healthy debates.

I guess this is just a sensitive topic for me, especially when fans want to 'chastise' others for somehow not seeing 'improvement' in consecutive 8-8 seasons.

I find it maddening.

Especially when I come with the actual numbers showing that this team simply doesn't compete with the playoff-caliber teams.

Its just as maddening when others are not allowed too see what they feel is improvement without getting trashed.

I couldn't agree more! Did you see my earlier post of the Cowboys record against playoff teams etc? We're 4-15 against teams that are 8-8 or better and 12-1 against teams that are below .500. Don't really see much improvement!

Check out this thread and see which side is using terms like 'dumb', 'stupid', and 'retard' and get back to me.

All the while with no tangible support for their position.

It's like kindergarten.

Yeah, but some choose to not see it...

Or hear it...

Or admit it...
