Default PFF 2012 Year End Rankings: Cowboys Defensive Backs

Standard Disclaimer -- These are PFF rankings. PFF data is hotly contested from being insightful / useful all the way to the other extreme of being trash. Mileage will vary:

Cornerbacks

56/113 - Orlando Scandrick
57/113 - Brandon Carr
82/113 - Morris Claiborne
90/113 - Mike Jenkins

Safeties

73/88 - Gerald Sensabaugh
77/88 - Danny McCray

Folks taking in these rankings need to consider that DB's (like all defenders) are graded on all areas such as pass defense, run defense and penalties.

Penalties seem to give a big zinger on a player's report card.

Nice to know the Cowboys front-office saw fit to extend the 73rd ranked safety in the NFL -- Gerald Sensabaugh....

bro, come on.

you gave us all the disclaimer and then label sensy the 73rd best safety in the same thread, lol.

sensy is far from great but there is also zero way he is anywhere near mccray in the rankings.

we have a quality db group aside from the safety corp.

i'd love to replace the guy to be sure but he wasn't anywhere near 73rd best.

Bro, I think you might be wrong. Sensabaugh played a ton more than Mccray yet only managed the following:

0 Interceptions
0 Sacks
0 Fumble Recoveries
3 Passes Defensed

Has there ever been a worse state line for a NFL starting safety in NFL history? You'd be hard pressed to find one.

3 Passes Defensed!!! Say it again. 3 Passes Defensed!!! Now say it louder -- 3 Passes Defensed!!!

How is that even possible?

I'm surprised, frankly, that Sensabaugh isn't dead last.

In fairness, he did make a tackle that one time.

What they need to consider is that we played a ton of zone and PFF assigns a completion solely on the basis of who is closest. It's garbage and lacks insight compared to say their pass protection numbers.

PFF coverage stats are worse than their grades.

LOL at peopple STILL defending Sensabaugh. For the life of me, I cannot understand how that oaf has built up so much goodwill with our front office.

Watch 5 minutes of the Seahawks/49ers safeties and you'll realize instantly what has been missing on the Dallas D for so long.

PFF defensive back grades are definitely the most useless part of the site.

Pro-bowl safeties with a hellacious pass rush to boot?

Yeah. 25 or more NFL teams could say that's what they've been missing.

As long as Sensy can man cover TEs the way he does, he'll have a job in the league.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

Not a safety on the roster worth a darn and I doubt they address it early in the draft.

Mo hurts himself, can't cover or tackle. It's said often that Dallas fans and coaches over value many of their players, well Mo is a perfect example of that. Based on his play this year, if that continues, then he is trending toward a bust.
