I'd agree with you, however, then we'd both have to agree that interceptions are meaningless.
The lack of interceptions is what caused the opposing QB rating to be so bad.

I understand your point. But still he gave a lot away for Mo. Which seemed to be your criteria for the option that he is not getting better.
No biggie really. But interesting proposition.

I want to answer this.
He payed for all of this. I have no idea who's in charge? However, I am seeing change.

By Pro-Bowlers I am going to define it as players initially selected to the Pro-Bowl -- not guys who made it in as injury replacements (example Mike Jenkins for Antoine Winfield in 2009).
I am going to cheat a bit and start the analysis in 2006 which gives us 7 years of data and about 50 seasons of total players but the collection of Cowboys 1st and 2nd round draft picks:
2006
0 Probowls - Bobby Carpenter
0 Probowls - Anthony Fasono
2007
0 Probowls - Anthony Spencer
2008
0 Probowls - Felix Jones
0 Probowls - Mike Jenkins (did make it as a injury replacement once)
0 Probowls - Marty Bennett
2009
NA
[View Full Quote]2010
0 Probowls - Dez Bryant
0 Probowls - Sean Lee
2011
0 Probowls - Tyron Smith
0 Probowls - Sean Lee
2012
0 Probowls - Morris Claiborne
---------------------------------
Grand Total - 0 Probowls for the 11 players selected in the 1st and 2nd rounds from 2006 to today.
|
This evaluation is a little unfair because Dez, Sean Lee, Tyron, and Claiborne are very likely pro bowlers in the future, not to mention Bruce carter and Demarco

What about:
Miles Austin
Doug Free
Jay Ratliff
Dan Connor
Gerald Sensabaugh
Have you seen how much these guys make?

Thats true I guess, but as mentioned in another thread here the amount of Defensive PI and Defensive holding calls dropped this year as well. Plus, Church getting hurt didn't help either, possibly would have gotten more interceptions with him

There is nothing unfair about it. It is a factual analysis of the the number of Pro-Bowls all the 1st and 2nd round draft picks drafted since 2006 the Cowboys have made that have been selected to play in (injury replacements excluded) in the Pro Bowl.
The fact of the matter is the Cowboys haven't drafted a single 1st or 2nd round pick who has been selected to the Pro-bowl in 7 years.
Maybe some guys make it in future -- who knows.

Then he gushed to anyone who would listen this summer about how they wanted to focus on beefing up the secondary.

Ah, as I thought, commentary and checkbook equals he did it. No wonder you guys hate him.

But the keyword here is IMPROVING, and in the past few years we have drafted several pro bowl caliber players, assuming they stay healthy. It's an upward trend that hopefully maintains

They are Cowboys that did what they could. Deal with it.
If they go...all those guys might get another chance somewhere else.

Hostile -- I am not tracking with you on this.
Jerry is the GM. Doesn't the buck stop with him as it relates to personnel matters?

He absolutely approved the Carr signing -- at least you'd hope he would have at $50m.
He absolutely approved the Cowboys trading up for Mo.
He certainly signed off on the Sensabaugh contract extension late last season.
He certainly signed off on the Scandrick contract extension.
I don't specifically fault Jerry for the play of those players, however.
|
Of course he approved them. That's not the point.

Uh, yeah, that's exactly what it means.
Jerry called his shot. He said "We're going after secondary", then had Carr flown in and signed him.
What else is missing from that equation? You're grasping at straws here and it's pathetic.
Blow me out of the water with this video, please. I'll wait.

Because with a salary cap in place, they are eating up cap space that could be used on better players. If this were an uncapped league, I wouldn't care.

That and 5 bucks will buy you an overpriced coffee at Starbucks. Jerry is not a personnel guy and has little to nothing to do with knowing the talent necessary to revamp the secondary. He has a checkbook. That's it.
