Question for those predicting Horton
Why would Arizona release him from his contract?

if the Boys slip the "asst Head Coach" title on him Az wont have the option, they can only block lateral moves not upgrades

They fired their Head Coach.

There hasn't been any inclination that they want to move on from him though, nor should they.

He is a candidate for that HC job in Arizona. If he doesn't get the job, I am sure he will ask out of his contract.
At that moment a voice came over me and said, Look up, get up, and don't ever give up. You tell everyone or anyone that has ever doubted, thought they did not measure up or wanted to quit, you tell them to look up, get up and don't ever give up. - Michael Irvin

That is no longer the case. He would have to be THE Head Coach, not "Asst Head Coach".

And the answer will be no. Only way would be if the new head coach wants his own DC.

Why would he do that? He has a young, elite D and if he doesn't get a HC opportunity this year his smartest move would be to stay in ARZ, not go to another team as a DC and start all over.

I think you can hire Horton without a promotion but you have to get permission from the parent club as with any asst. The Rooney rule doesn't apply.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

The only way Horton leaves is if Arizona's new HC wants his own DC.

Yes that's true, but again, why would Arizona let him walk?
