Default What Offensive System Should we run in Big D?

I thought it would be interesting to ask this question as we speculate on who will come in as an OC. I found the following information on what are considered the 6 offensive systems being used in the NFL today on wikipedia. While this may not be the autoritative source of NFL systems it is still very interesting. Especially for those of us who aren't offensive guru's.

Specific offensive strategies
Using a combination of passing plays and running plays, the offense tries to gain the yards needed for a first down, touchdown, or field goal. Over the years several football coaches and offensive coordinators have developed some well-known and widely-used offensive strategies:

Option offense
Streak and Read Principle Offense (Patriots, Giants, Broncos)
Smashmouth offense
Air Coryell offense
Spread offense
West Coast offense (Green Bay, San Fran, Washington, Philly, etc)
Pistol offense (used by West Coast teams)

I feel like the West Coast offense would compliment Romo a lot better than the current system under Garrett.

I think if we keep the coryell we should really consider fixing that line. If not, go to a different scheme which isn't as dependent on it.
If you build it, he will run...

the one that gets us in the end zone. no offense but in my non football coaching experience, its tds that count the most not what scheme you use. nothing against peopel who have it all figured out, but three rules have to apply to all teams. The RB MUST go forward, yes sorry for the staggering news, even the great Barry Sanders had to go forward. The WR also MUST go forward, again sorry for the devastating news, and lastly, while there are many ways to score, all NFL scholars agree, the ball must pass the plane of the endzone. So with all this new and high tech science i just cranked out, any scheme that gets that pig skin past the plane of the end zone is fine with me.

Theres no difference between the schemes, they all need WR's, they all need someone to run the ball and they all have to go forward, i dont care if its the WCO, i dont care if its some design you think will fake out all defenses, a TE formation, or all out air offense, the player still has to catch the ball and he has to be passed the line of scrimmage.

I like what the Patriots have been able to do (with the streak and read) but they of course have Brady. Rick Dennison ran a west coast offense.

I question who we are sticking with Air Coryell's system when it has limited success in the NFL.

I think Romo reads defenses much like Peyton in Denver. I think that offense would work best for Romo if...and I mean if..we could find a great running back and some offensive linemen who could open some running lanes. Romo excels off of play action...

He runs a very specific flavor of the WCO.

The Coryelle offense works great if you have the personnel for it, including a dominant OL.

WCO is very timing based, something we consistently struggle with. Plus, a lot of it is the OC being able to sense the feel and flow of a game that we couldn't possibly bank on Garrett to run that sort of offense.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Theoretically the Air Coryell system is timing based as well.

I vote for the up tempo no Garrett offense.
It's a process.

Up-tempo, non-timing based scheme that applies horizontal stretch concepts.
