Is Spencer gone in a move to the 4-3?
Ok -- supposedly Kiffin is bringing the Tampa 2 to Dallas.
Is there ANY scenario where the Cowboys would pay Spencer the $10m/year that he'll be able to get on the open market, only to make him a converted 4-3 tweener 250lb DE?
Would Spencer even want to make that transition? I'm not sure he would. He's played his entire professional career as a standup 3-4 LB.
Thoughts?

I say he is gone. Underappreciated dude if you ask me, but I think they either grab a DE in the draft or roll with Crawford on opening day.

But why spend $10m/year on a 30 year older player who has played very little with his hand on the group in his career?
Heck, I thought it was iffy he'd be back with the Cowboys sticking to a 3-4.

Not neccisarily. In a Tampa two, him and ware playing de would be our best option. And if we run a system similar to the giants or Seahawks he can play olb

I don't think it's scheme. He played DE at Purdue and as has been mentioned here many times, we basically played a 43 anyhow.
He's gone because we can't afford him IMO. Unless he's willing to take a very friendly deal, which I don't see him doing or it would already have happened, he's gone.

He stays he fits fine in a 4-3 . We will simply franchise him again so he won't get away .

This. Spence fits fine in a 4-3, the money will have him going elsewhere.

I can see Ware playing DE in a 4-3. Spencer on the other hand has pretty much stood up as a 3-4 OLB his entire career in Dallas. Spencer, at 250lb, switching to a new position as a 4-3 DE lined up across from 300-325lb RTs play after play is a very big change.
