Larry Lacewell: Kiffin is "best hire Cowboys have ever made"
For the love of God, if you needed any other proof that this hire is solely the product of Jerry and his drinking buddies with no input from the head coach
Well, here it is...

If you want to be convinced that Monte Kiffin is the right man for the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator job, just give Larry Lacewell a call.
That’s something that Jerry Jones does on a regular basis, by the way.
Lacewell, the former Cowboys scouting director who remains a member of Jerry’s unofficial advisory committee, readily admits that he has a “man crush” on the 72-year-old Kiffin. The Cowboys met with Kiffin at Valley Ranch on Thursday, and Lacewell assumes his old friend will officially become Rob Ryan’s replacement soon.
“Frankly, I think it’s the best hire the Cowboys have ever made,” Lacewell told ESPNDallas.com on Friday morning. “Well, other than Jimmy [Johnson].”
[View Full Quote]Lacewell completely dismisses the mediocre results Kiffin got as the defensive coordinator on his son Lane’s USC staff, saying Kiffin did the best he could do despite talent issues that stem in part from NCAA-sanctioned recruiting restrictions. Lacewell, who visited USC last summer during an off day in the Cowboys’ training camp, said Kiffin is as passionate and energetic as ever.
“To fall into Monte Kiffin is just a gift,” said Lacewell, who used Kiffin as a sounding board when Mike Zimmer copied his scheme with the Cowboys. “To pull this off is just a coup. Whoever thought of this was real smart.”

Since this is Lace's idea, this is a great quote.

Regardless of any goofy quotes from Lacewell, I do think it was a good move by the Cowboys.

Landry was certainly a good coach, but most of this board would have wanted him run out of town shortly after his tenure began. Prior to receiving the lable of next years champions his teams didn't fair very well. I'd vote Jimmy as the best hire.

Scariest part of this is we know know who Jerry turns to for advise. This franchise is doomed till Jerry goes toes up.

Thank you.
I always lose confidence when Larry Lacewell agrees with something.

The integrity of the Dallas Sports Media can be summed up in this quote 'I've gotta be the bad guy on CBS11 and my radio job on ESPN. I don't have to be the bad guy here.' - Steve Dennis

Uh, I'm pretty sure he was referring to the Cowboys under Jerry Jones, but okay, lol.

Holding my breath on contract talks. Hopefully we can get something done.

Kiffin in a statement released through the team: "I came away from the interview process with Jason with a feeling that Dallas is the right place to be. He has this team headed in the right direction."

I agree, but the way Jerry does this stuff is ridiculous. Jason looks so weak right now.
It looks like Jerry paving the way to bring Gruden in. He should let Garrett lead the way, not him.

Uninformed as usual. Look at the Gruden news on the FZ I posted. I was too, now I know better.

Yeah sure it was. Was that from your source that said Ryan was a lock to stay?

None of my sources said Ryan was a lock to stay. I said I'd be shocked if he was gone due to the injuries the D suffered, and I was.
